These are a few of the photos I took two weeks ago at Boardwalk Pond at the Clark County Wetlands Park near Henderson, Nevada. If you want to see the rest, check them out on my Flickr account.

You should come up here to cool down then @deadguitarist 😂😂LOL. Maybe not in Jan or Feb when it's like -20 to -30 though. I'm surprised you didn't melt on the Tarmac man! A dangerous job I'm sure. Even though I'm Canadian I think it's appropriate to say Thank You for your Service. Being allies and all
deadguitarist:
@thekarmaguy, thank you. After a while you kind of get used to all the heat. Doesn't mean I have to like it though. Toronto is on my travel list. Eventually, I'll get there.

It's been a while since I went out shot some photos... Almost a year. I think the last time I shot was on my trip to Cabo San Lucas last Memorial Day weekend (2015).

Anyway, 02 May 2016, I went out to the Clark County Wetlands Park after work and shot some sunset photos. I didn't have enough time to wander around the park, so...

Go give some love to @nebula's debut set, The Slow Regard of Silent Things. It is one of the best debut sets I've seen. Seriously, go give it some love. GO. NOW. DO. IT. DON'T PASS GO! DO NOT COLLECT $200. GO STRAIGHT THERE AND GIVE HER SOME LOVE!

thekarmaguy:
Yes go go go or Karma may be a bitch

@deadguitarist @thekarmaguy love you both 😁💜 thank you guys so much!!!

I need to get this out...

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand all the hullabaloo over transgender people using the restroom of the gender with which they identify.
#1 Can you tell if a person is transgender just by looking at him/her. Not likely. You've probably seen at least one, if not more depending upon where you live, and never knew it. Perhaps...

If you read my last blog entry, then you know I've had a pretty bad cold this week, with a pretty bad cough. I've using Hall's Cough Drops to manage the cough when liquid cough medicine isn't available or appropriate (like at work where I can't fall asleep). They work reasonably well.

I never really looked at the wrappers of the individual drops, until today....

It's coming to a shitty end.

Sunday, I did our taxes. I always wait until almost the last minute because we've had to pay taxes almost every year since 2007. We also owe the IRS back taxes for the two years that my wife was an independent contractor. Each year we were saving money to pay come tax time, but each year something came up...

I'm sorry to hear you were feeling under the weather, and it's a shame about your Mini Cooper :( I hope the warranty covers it, and that things look up for you next week!
deadguitarist:
One of the ignition coils is misfiring, plus the spark plugs need replacing. The warranty would cover the bad ignition coil, but it would only save me about $11 after the $100 deductible. Mini recommended replacing all of the ignition coils to better ones. Otherwise this would happen 3 more times down the road; each time I'd have to pay the labor, which isn't covered. So, these course of action is to replace all the ignition coils and spark plugs. ~$900 - Mini Coopers are expensive to repair. 😡 Could have been worse though. Can't get it repaired until Tuesday as they have to order the coils, so I'm without my car for a few days. ☹️ Left it with the Mini shop as I could damage the catalytic converter by driving it as is. 😦 As for the health, felt worse this morning, so I went to a clinic this morning. Just a bad cold combined with allergies brought on by the high winds (putting a bunch of dust and crap into the air this week). Hopefully this will pass over the weekend. Thanks for the encouragement @calvinwinter. It helps.

Although I'll probably never have the money to do it (maybe I could crowdfund it?), I have an idea for a photography business that I think is a good one. I think about opening a photography studio, but not just for myself. Rather, I'd stock it with a variety of props, backgrounds, studio lights and other equipment. Photographers then could rent time in the "studio"...

There are actually a lot of studios in SoCal at least that do this :) it's a viable business idea, but worth looking into demand in your area, and of there's anyone nearby already doing something similar, etc. Property cost is likely going to be your main expense, but that's no small thing.... plus utilities for the property, permits, all sorts of things.... Owning your own business is a shit ton of work. If you're passionate about it though, keep looking into it!
deadguitarist:
@nebula I read about this photography business model, but it wasn't in Las Vegas. While I'm not certain, because I have done zero research thus far, I don't think there is anything like this in Vegas. There are quite a few photography meetup groups here. I'm pretty sure that some of those groups and individual photographers would welcome the service. And there are a ton of freelance and sole proprietor photographers here. After all, it's not just locals getting married here. I also thought about devoting some space as a gallery where people could try to sell photographs too, with a small commission coming my way.

I don't feel that 10 items plus 2 bonuses were enough, so here are a few more things about me that I hope y'all find interesting.

1. I graduated with BS in Geology from Mississippi State University. Although I got a good education and thoroughly enjoyed my years at Mississippi State, I should have stayed in California to get my geology degree. Why? Because, to...

I was thinking of getting outdoors on Saturday... Clark County Wetlands Park and/or Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. Or maybe even making a day trip to Death Valley.

But, alas, there's rain in the forecast. I don't mind hiking in a bit of rain, but it's not a good idea to take the cameras out in the semi-heavy stuff they are predicting for the weekend. And...

@rambo, @missy, @lyxzen and all of SG Land, here are some fun and interesting facts about where I live, Las Vegas, NV. There is so much more to this city than casinos and gambling...

- If you're not driving at least 15 mph above the speed limit, you run the risk of getting flipped off.

- Yes, there is more to Las Vegas than the...

I know man it's nuts. They started putting those barriers up because of too many wrecks from people doing F1 speeds.  I was driving home around midnight on the 215 and I saw all these bright lights and wondered what was going on. Turns out a driver who was speeding flipped his car in the middle of the road and they had to move it out of the way with the driver still inside. They had to bring the jaws of life out to get him free. People just don't get it but I guess that's one of the quirks of our city @DEADGUITARIST
deadguitarist:
My wife doesn't care much for hiking/outdoor activities. So @nebula (and anyone else who lives in or visits Las Vegas and likes the outdoors) I need a hiking partner. It's not smart to go it alone unless it's short stuff in town, like Springs Preserve, Exploration Peak, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve or Clark County Wetlands Park.

From the blog homework Wayback Machine @rambo, @missy, @lyxzen. I don't dress up for Halloween often. We don't usually go out on Halloween and no one in our small circle of friends throws Halloween parties. So if I do, it's usually because there was a costume contest at work.

These are three of my most recent costumes. The first on is from circa 2009: Cereal...

I posted a new profile photo. Actually, it's my first real profile picture. I took it the night I got my 22KILL Honor Ring. It's the black ring on my left index finger. This is the significance of that plain black titanium ring.

On average, 22 veterans commit suicide each day.
