I just found out my buddy Frank who used to play with Stiv Bators is in the hospital with pneumonia. He's doing a lot better and expected to make a full recovery, but I'd appreciate everyone sending good thoughts his way! smile
hellkitten:
Ouch - that poor guy! My Mom just recovered from such severe bronchitius (sp?) that it was a hairs breadth away from pneumonia. I'm definitely sending good vibes his way!

A certain company that treats it's employees like children has just lost over $73 million in a lawsuit! I'm laughing my ass off! biggrin
jojo_suicide:
Well...that's definitely not my ex-job (it wasn't a company). So...I'm guessing...is it Wal-Mart? biggrin

I just spent the last 3 days in the fear that my computer had finally died! All of my e-mails, friends addresses, everything gone! My computer crashed reverting the hard drive due to bad software I downloaded for dj'ing, and I found out that Go Back had been sold twice and is now owned by Symantec. I've spent about 16 hours in the last few...

Has anyone ever had one of those jobs where, if you do a good job, you get some meaningless little award printed on some stupid piece of paper. Then, your name is called in a meeting in the auditorium, and you have to act excited and run around the room giving everyone a high five like a special olympian?
Well, I work in that hellhole....

Once again, death has claimed someone else who had a big influence on my life. We lost Buck Owens on Saturday (Yep, I grew up watching Hee-Haw -it was pretty much mandatory growing up in Virginia, especially when one of your Uncles played with Lester Flatt), and now we've lost Dan Curtis. You may know him better as the guy who brought us Dark Shadows...

It's been a dismal month or so.
Darrin McGavin, Dennis Weaver, Don Knotts, Buck Owens, Dan Curtis.
I can remember watching Dark Shadows from the safety of behind my Mom's chair when I was a kid. And I still pull out The Night Stalker on vhs every once in a while. What a great show!

Kisses for you, I hope you feel better soon. He is in a happier place.

I found a very cool dvd yesterday for $5. The Old Grey Whistle Test -it has Alice Cooper, the Ramones, Tom Waits, John Lennon, Blondie, the Wailers, XTC, Talking Heads, Iggy Pop and lots of other bands.
Also went out and had a few pints in Radford. St. Patrick's Day in this area is pretty boring.....it's sad when there is not even an Irish pub...

You must be my friend--immediately

I went to the Macado's in Radford......it's not the same. I used to go to Limerick Junction in Atlanta every St. Patrick's Day to see my friend Ossian play. Unfortunately, he passed away last year, but we had many a good time together!
I heard about Kara O'Caines.....I went up there as soon as I moved here and it was already gone. frown
The thing I miss most is good Irish food....fortunately, I have quite a few Irish cookbooks and live on Soda Bread, Colcannon, Scones, and whatever else I can find.
I really miss being able to buy Bangers, Irish Bacon, Irish Cheese, Black and White puddings, candy, and other things. I can always order them over the net but that gets expensive when it comes to the shipping.

IRELAND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In memory of all who have given their lives to live as a free and united Ireland, and those still in the struggle. May there be peace in our time, and an end to the troubles. Our day will come.
26 + 6 = 1

Happy St. Patrick's day!

Now we ask for the unconditional surrender of all countries to Ireland, else we...

I'm meeting some very cool people on the Aging Punks group.....it's nice to know there are still some of us left who remember the beginning. Unfortunately, I've lost far too many friends and heroes over the years, so new friends are always very much appreciated.
It's nice when you can discuss bands and songs a lot of other people have forgotten or never heard of...

Still looking for signs of life in this area......wishing there was more of a punk/goth scene. Back to working tech support and dealing with morons.........at least I'll be able to save up enough money in a year to move out of this area and go back to being a strip club dj somewhere

There used to be some cool places in Blechsburg to hear bands, but it's all disco/club crap now. At least Hot Topic carries some good Bettie Page stuff. Anything going on in the 'Noke?

Still adjusting to life (and or lack thereof) in southwestern Virginia. Going back to a horrid job in the hope that I'll be able to save enough money to move to a place where life exists.
Hello Cleveland!
