Looking for SG advice...

So I finally met someone in Texas that I like... well sort of and there in lies the problem.
What do you do when you like someone almost completely on an emotional level but the physical stuff just doesn't seem to match? What I am saying is that while I think she's cute, she doesn't do it for me in the looks department. I have been attracted to girls that have that SG quality to them but I never have luck in dating them. I have pretty much sworn off changing my appearance (clothes, hair) to try and attract an SG type of girl so I am feeling that if I don't want to be alone I need to settle. Do you live alone being yourself knowing it is your taste keeping you that way? Or change your exterior to someone your not to try and be with the person you like? The older I get the more I just want to give in. I already am sure what I am going to do but I am looking for advice and maybe something else will spark from that.
