I've been writing music for two years now (my first song's birthday is in a week, yay!) and I'm starting to want to have something physical to show for it. I've always loved 7''s and I'd love to have some to give to freinds and stuff.

for any of you who don't know, I write short solo instrumental mandolin peices. (see http://www.modernmando.com )

I'm thinking a very limited release and I fully expect to lose any money I put into the project so it needs to be cheap, but I do want it to be as professional quality as I can.

I'm thinking of doing 4 songs. I'm sure I could do the recording in just one day.

I have no clue where to start.

If anybody has any advice on any step of the process I'd love to hear it, especially if you know of resources in the bay area.
