The last snowboarding vacation I took ended early with me getting a ride down the mountain bundled on a toboggan behind the medic's snowmobile. Yep, I got hauled off the mountain because I totally biffed & tore my ACL. Despite the ensuing months in a leg brace, I still find myself daydreaming about getting away & going out on the slopes! Someone please... Read More
You just need to get near some snow, hang around outside 'til you get a bit chilly--wait for your cheeks to turn pink, maybe throw a snowball or two, that kind of thing--and then go inside and curl up somewhere warm and cozy for the rest of the day/evening/winter/year. That's the whole point of winter sports, isn't it? I've just always skipped the "sports" part and headed straight for the sweaters and cuddling and hot toddies.
you can't keep a good woman down!...but you might be able to keep a bad skier down?
I would be inclined to give you another shot at it, so long as you took it easy at first. Then again your idea and Necia's certainly have merit and bear contemplating.
In any case, I hope you have an amazing halloween. and try not to be injured when I come up to visit m'kay?
It's cold & drizzly outside. I'm making comfort food. The house smells wonderful, but I'm pretty sure I'm torturing the dogs by using so much bacon fat.
Thank you all for your kind words of support. I really appreciated the support of my friends while dealing with the loss of my grandmother. Thankfully, we had the funeral this past Sunday, and it was very healing, as well.
I am embarking on a bit of a new journey these days. I am trying to be kinder to myself, and in some ways be... Read More
My grandmother passed away this morning. There are so many reasons I love her, but I keep coming back to memories of her making a pot of tea & sitting with me and my mom at the kitchen table. We had homemade cookies, and used the good china, even when I was only 4 or 5 years old.
My new job is going pretty well. I already am accomplishing a lot, and my boss says I can bring the dog to work with me. Now if only I could dig through the bureaucratic BS to get the rest of my computer security codes and my key card!
This is so crazy - when I was on my diet I only lost four pounds in time for the wedding, then went back to eating what I wanted. My total weight loss since I started keeping track? 15lbs!
we may have some time. not sure how it's going to work. it just depends on how quickly they decide they need us over there. I'll be in the San Diego area for the training I think...that might change. I'll let you know for sure.
feeling MUCH better now. day at the beach and rum drinks really do help with recuperation in a major way.
I'm sorry to hear about the camera. that's the worst. And as bad as the losing the camera is, it can be replaced. I'm sorry about you losing all your photos.
So: I just changed my Google preferences to set my operating language as Swedish Chef (bork, bork, bork!) and thought of you and your travels. Welcome home!
Biopsy results came in yesterday. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do for Grandma except make her comfortable. The oncologist said to expect it to be rapid. I'm scared, and I hate this. I feel like I don't know how to be helpful or useful or supportive of my family. I just keep visiting & hanging around.
I am so sorry to hear about all you are going through.
I have no advice since I am in a similar situation as you, wherein I have not yet lost anyone as an adult.
I am happy that you are making the most of your time together. Your uncle may find that he regrets not doing the same.
I would be inclined to give you another shot at it, so long as you took it easy at first. Then again your idea and Necia's certainly have merit and bear contemplating.
