muse43 sent me a great email today. it's a poem from one of her students last term. keep in mind the fact that he sent her threatening emails and cussed her out online, as well as making comments on the class messageboard that she wasn't fit to "touch [his] jockstrap".

the top line is her editorializing:
Oh boy, this one is a keeper!


1. I want to get to know you
Any and everything about you
Ever since the first time I saw you
I'm so curious, I need to know you,

2. The things your starting to make me feel
Damn, they just feel oh so real
Never thought I'd meet someone so precious
I just have to have the chance to get to know, I'm serious

3. You've been on my mind,
It seems that you came around just in time
Damn, I've never seen anyone quite so fine
Sometimes I day dream that you will be mine

4. I'm so insecure
The way you make me feel. I'm not sure
Crazy, Sexy, Cool you are
Your my superstar, I know you'll do real far

5. This may seem like a little bit too much
I just want to keep in touch
Maybe even be your special friend
because I know that there may be other men

6. And if your all alone
All you have to do is pick up that phone
And I will be there to hold you tight
Long into the middle of the night

awesome. I bet it'll work, too. everyone knows that rhyming words makes something a poem. no need for rhythm, meter, verse, any of that stuff! we especially enjoyed the first stanza where he rhymed "you" with "you" four times. and we liked the fact that he numbered the stanzas as well. (did you notice that he used the word "damn" twice?)
