Woohoo! Home again and safe and sound, so it's time for a long update! Get out the pencils, kids, there's going to be a test aferwards....
OK......
Prom weekend was awesome. Volkov came into SF on Thursday, and we went to dinner. He's cuter than I even remembered. He didn't let me pay for my food, which was the beginning of many chivalry-related spats throughout the weekend.
Good food, though, and even better conversation.
Friday, I ran errands to prep for Prom, then worked in the SouthBay (and got stuck in traffic afterwards), then curry at thee Parkside!
Many thanks to Requiem for organising it. It was awesome to meet so many people. Notables inculde:
Al - yes, she's that attractive and funny in real life. I love that she has little tolerance for stupidity (I am the same way).
Flux - sci-fi? Yes, please! She and I talked Dune for a bit, and her man (whose name I forget - I'm sorry!) and I talked cars.
Koleeta - WOW. Just wow. Charming and gorgeous, and very interesting. I wish we could have hung out more. (And her outfit on Saturday was breathtaking).
KaliDoom - a fucking firecracker of a girl. Adorable thing? She kept worrying that she was too drunk and obnoxious.
Noir - very sweetly guarding the door at Curry, but she let me bring STITCHY in (with the promise of a beating if she ate anything). She was very humble about being an SG, and said that a lot of people don't recognize her. I told her it was because she was smart and intimidating, and I still stand by that statement.
Picture of davel and me: (thanks, Frenchy)
and one taken by Volkov of me being my usual charming self:
I left curry early because I was worn out, and needed to conserve energy for Saturday. It was a good decision, as I was barely functional by the end of Saturday night.
Saturday? Yes, prom, but first there was errand-running, and lunch in North Beach with Volkov. We had just happened to pick a restaurant where KaliDoom and Trevor were eating outside! We honked at them in the car on the way to park, then joined them in the outside tables for a lovely afternoon!
I went home soon after, and got ready to go to prom. Setting my hair took over an hour, and blowdrying it even longer. I wrapped my hair and rollers up in an old-lady poofy thing, and headed on out to get my hot date! letigre was going with me, and had even bought a pink tie! She looked fabulous! (picture below)
We went to Pre-Prom Cocktails hosted by GhostCowboy, and GlassHeart and Noelani both made me beautiful!
Makeup by miss Glass♥, and thank goodness Noelani was able to help me with my hair (which after much effort had still refused to curl). Beer was consumed, finishing touches put on, Sempi let me pick his tie, and we piled into cars. This is where I mention that tomahto drove a gang of us girls to Prom so we didn't all have to take our cars.
By the way, GlassHeart had also done STITCHY's makeup and put sparklies on her eyes!
Then it was time for Prom!!!
I don't love this picture, but here I am with my sexyfine date:
So many people were there that I can't even begin to list them all. I am sorry to anyone I forget! A few notable first-time meetings:
unravled - *swoon* what a sweet and beautiful woman!
MisterSatan - very nice, but we didn't get much chance to visit.
Dusty - who let me buy her a drink. She was totally adorable, and hugged me on the way out.
PainAngel who walked us girls to our car at the end of the evening.
NapoleonDynamite - who is even cuter in person, and very nice (but yet another person I didn't get to hang out with enough).
gah! I'm having a brain fart, so that's the end of the list for now.
I loved getting to see all of my friends dressed up, and was especially happy to see a few who I don't see on a regular basis (retroactivwe, greggster, and HeckaHella to name a few. OOOOH! And Alabama and Sadie!) Man, the women at prom were fantastically gorgeous! I don't think I saw even one girl who looked less than stunning, and the men were just as sharp! I love seeing everyone in their dress-up clothes!
STITCHY took this picture of me with Nixon outside of the venue:
Lots of other good things, let's see....
Oh!
I saw the Lovemakers for the first time and saw the boy (can't remember his name) who sings make out with STITCHY.
I can't remember much else. Noelani was by far the sexiest woman there. I told her she looked like sex on a stick. She did, too. Here's a picture of us together that Volkov took.
It doesn't nearly do her justice.
And while I'm at it, here's Volkov himself with me:
If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have any pictures at all.
After Prom, I went home, grabbed luggage, and went to SJO to fly to San Antonio. No sleep. What a long night/next day!
OK, I'm getting tired and kinda having writer's block, so the trip to Texas will have to wait until later! Hope your Prom experience was as good as mine!
(And if you have a picture of me that shows my skirt, I'd be eternally grateful to you for posting it).
