Many thanks to Noelani and Yonderboy for hosting the lovely brunch this Sunday. It was the first time I've been remotely social on a weekend in ages. I actually had a day off from school and both jobs for the first time in over a month (though I did spend the afternoon at a study group, geek that I am).
I am becoming a wine geek extraordinaire. I even used the phrase "volatize the esters" to some of my customers the other night before I realized what I was doing. Studying France right now. I hope none of the Master Sommeliers who give me my certification test are French because they will be appalled at my butchery of the language. Plus, I will add fuel to the "stupid American" stereotype fire because I am hopelessly confused by French wine regulations. I swear, it's like each region is its own little country with its own laws and customs. I have grown too accustomed to the US rules of "make what you want, wherever you want, however you want".
Apparently, Italy is even tougher, so don't expect me to show my face any time soon. Thank goodness this is only for 7 more weeks. I'm gonna wind up with a complex.
I miss you all.

We still like to think of ourselves as Central California - SC is about five hours South. I'm in Monterey now, about two hours south of SF. I'm in Napa just about every weekend, though, working on the house. Where are your Sommelier classes?
