A hundred an hour, said 'A NASA spokesperson'. Hmm. Got to be good then. The Perseid meteor shower would be worth watching this year. Clear skies, too. Knowing the constellations of the Northern hemisphere like the back of my hand, I sat in a comfy chair looking North-Easterly towards Perseus. I sat for two hours, until a layer of cloud rolled in. Two hours, and I saw THREE meteors, only one of which came from the direction of Perseus. One came from the direction of Ursa Major, and the other from the general direction of Aquila. I saw many, many aircraft, and two satellites, but meteors - sod all. The best display I have ever seen, was in 1996, in November. There were thousands, and I sat on a cliff, with a friend, watching them over the sea. You could hear them, too, which was eerie, and we saw some impact on the roof of a nearby house. Some caused odd flashes as they came down, and they were still falling as we went home, several hours later. The next day was the day that they were meant to be at their peak, so we went into the middle of nowhere with a video camera. We saw maybe half a dozen. Like the weather, never bet on natural phenomena. It'll shaft you every time. ππ
