I don't bother with Halloween, as I spend a lot of time thinking about dark and weird stuff, so it's a holiday for me. I do like horror movies, but most modern ones try far too hard, and are just not frightening at all. Not a lot of thought put into the writing of most, either. I'll stick to some of the old ones, thanks....

As an addendum to the above, there are only three Zombie movies I can bear to watch - the subject has been done to death - the brain eating Zombie is not interesting at all, save demonstrating gore effects.Β  Those films are: 'White Zombie' (1932); 'I Walked With A Zombie' (1943), and 'Plague Of The Zombies' (1966).

The new SG logo. I like it. It has a kind of piratical air about it, inasmuch as the font used looks very similar to one used in books that feature items pertaining to pirates. (And pirates only speaks in the present tense, does pirates). Sorry drifted away a bit there. Mind wandered. It'll come back when it wants something... πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Ah, yes. Here in the UK, we don't tend to make such a big 'thing' of it: that, we save for November the Fifth, where we remember the 'Gunpowder Plot', where a gang of malcontents, led by one Robert Catesby, but remembered for another member, Guido 'Guy' Fawkes, set out to blow up the Houses of Parliament, Politicians, King and all, in 1605. The gang had filled a basement under Parliament with barrels of gunpowder, with Fawkes looking after it - he was a bit of an explosives expert. However, due to odd letters turning up, telling some MP's to stay away on 05/11/1605, Fawkes and the gunpowder were discovered, and King James the first of England, sixth of Scotland, and the government were saved. Fawkes and the gang were rounded up, and died very horribly for their impertinence. We burn effigies of Fawkes, and let off fireworks to commemorate this.

Happy birthday, SG! Thank you for two decades of alternative, inclusive, and totally wonderful beauty! You've made the lives of so many people better. A casual glance might make you think: 'Hmm. Ink and boobs'. But it's so much more than that. Long distance, long term friendships have been formed. People have been able to tell the world their heartbreak, and recovery over time. All...

I'm rather sad because of the news that yet another of my musical heroes has died - the Reggae dub innovator - a true one off genius - Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Rest easy, man. Rest easy.

It's my birthday today - but I can't leave the house, as I'm having new double glazing installed, and all the downstairs is open to the world. The first birthday that I've had for years and years that's on a day off work, and the weather is not bad - and I can't do anything. Typical. Bloody typical. πŸ€”πŸ™πŸ‘ΉπŸ‘ΊπŸ‘ΏπŸ’€

Last Saturday was Record Store Day. There were no participating shops in my town, so I went with my brother to a nearby town, and queued up in a huge line from 7am. Actually got in the shop at about 10:30. I got everything bar two records that I wanted. All were only available on the day, and a lot were coloured vinyl or picture...

A sentence spoken by someone who doesn't care [Sir Henry Rawlinson, actually], and that's how I feel. Especially today, on my 54th birthday, which, as I'm working tonight, will be spent in bed, asleep. In the past, this would have really bothered me, but this year... it feels different, in a kind of: 'Yeah, another year gone - so what' way. I have been out,...

If I were to do what my title says, it would be lethal - I spent a phenomenal amount of money on booze in my youth.
