I think this is absolutely brilliant - you can tell it's meant to be Adam West, even though it is a distorted toy. I love it, and wish I had had one as a kid - stuff like this was totally unavailable in the UK in the 1960's. Seems crazy now, but that's how it was.

I had to include this. A recent one-off edition.

Almost forgotten now, but utterly wonderful. The huge Frankenstein Junior was voiced by the great Ted (Lurch from the Addams Family) Cassidy. The Impossibles were a pop band, but in times of crisis, metamorphosed into: Coil Man, made of springs, could jump very high, almost infinitely stretchy: Fluid Man, who could change into liquid, and flow through and under things: Multi Man, who could generate almost infinite copies of himself. The whole show was dosed in psychedelic colours, and was, to me, aged four, possibly my introduction to the strange and bewildering world of the comicbook superhero. It's fair to say that this show simultaneously opened my eyes, and did my head in. The trailer is on youtube, voiced by the great Paul Frees.👍

Funnily enough, many years ago, my brother and a daft mate of his, actually altered a load of road signs, obcuring the correct second word, 'way', with card, and adding the word 'head' cut from black gaffer [duct] tape. I was so proud.

This is from a point not far from the previous photo.  The English Channel has eaten into this part of the south coast of the Isle Of Wight, not by centimetres, but by tens of metres. Blackgang Chine Park, which has a claim to possibly being the world's first theme park [it's been here since the mid 1800's], has had to keep moving back inland, leaving tantalising [and, for my brother and I, sad] glimpses of what was, with paths that go nowhere, other than oblivion over a 300 foot cliff.

All together now: "MY BRAIN HURTS!" (Repeat ad infinitum).

I showed him the naughty end of a steel rule pretty damn sharpish. I have already suffered a horsefly bite this year, and I didn't fancy donating any more blood to this buzzing bastard.

Kevin O'Neill's artwork is deliciously complex here, especially in scenes of chaos and carnage, of which there are many. Pat Mills' narrative is weird, frightening and funny in equal measure. For the first few stories, Nemesis was never seen, only his organic ship, the Blitzspear. When Nemesis was first revealed, it was quite shocking: your hero was not even vaguely human, more a daemon from some dark, dark dream. And, of course, he's brilliant. One of my favourite bands, Shriekback, wrote a song about him. It's possibly the only dance tune to use the word 'Parthenogenesis' in it's lyrics. 👍
