I'm watching the Monty Python Personal Best on PBS right now. Monty Python always makes me happy! And stuff this good gets me to thinking about the cultural things I've witnessed in my life that made me truly happy. These would include, for me (in no particular order):
Monty Python's Flying Circus
The Beatles (esp. Revolver & Abbey Road)
Bob Dylan (esp. Bringing It All... Read More

It is the paper on maya bloodletting rituals. I did it as an undergrad a few years ago. Not that it is anywhere near my specific research interests today (personal interests, yes).
So things have quieted down from the holiday froohahas. I'm still catching my breath from getting all the major projects done over break, and then had to launch right into syllabi and classes. My goal this semester is to scale WAY back and just do what needs to be done and not much else.
The garbage disposal had to be replaced the first week of... Read More
Oooooh, I'm going to go and make my own church sign with this link as my inspiration and post it everywhere! Anti-Gay Pastor (insert grinning devil head here) LOL
Yeah, actually my man JUST went to the lawyer today and he said he should have NO problem getting joint custody of the kids. Especially since she got pregnant by another man while still married to my man. She was trying to say in the papers that she had been a good and faithful wife and that she was going to do all of this on the basis of cruel and inhumane treatment...which they've been separated for almost 6 years now AND he never hit her..so we have NO idea where they came up with THAT idea..but the lawyer said they dont' even have a case to base that on and that it was probably just a scare tactic to get us to give her what she wants. So anywho....now to just come up wtih an additional $1,000! AH!
I was off to Philadelphia for my annual professional conference -- I was involved in three back to back to back sessions Saturday, 'cause I'm chair, and then I blew off almost everything else to eat cheesesteaks and fondue. And more cheese! Cheese, Grommit! And I may have another book deal. Or two!
Trip sounds fun and exhausting!
(cheese Gromit) you are too funny.
Turkey day was good, family all left each other happy. No one wanted the kill the other or wondered why the hell they servived evolution.
So a little pumpkin pie and good conversation was truely a thing to be thankful for!
What up? I'm finally able to steal away a few precious minutes to do a little catching up and you're MIA??? WTF?
Well, I still dig the fry-o-lantern!
Hope all is well and you're having a good Thanksgiving.
Later!
In an unlikely turn of events, the band CAKE played my little podunk town last night. They were most excellent! 'Course, they declined to stay the night here, and hightailed out of town ASAP. But the opening band, Rock Kills Kid, who were notified only two days ago that they had to be in the middle of nowhere to open for CAKE, were a bunch... Read More
So, how was my weekend alone and without power? All things considered, not too bad.
The wife and I have owned our house for 3 years next month. About two years ago, the neighbor noticed our elm, which takes up most of our puny back yard, was dying of Dutch Elm disease, like all the others on our street had years ago.
