There are so many heroes that came out of 9/11. Endless stories. I have two favorites.
One was described to me by someone i worked with at the time. His brother and his brother's family was on one of the flights that hit the two towers. He called authorities on his cell phone from the plane, trying to alert them before he died. Him, his wife and a kid i believe.
The other is harder for me. My friend lost her son in iraq defending our freedom. He was 21, such a great kid. His picture has been on my entryway table ever since, and it is hard for me to look at his smiling face. I cry almost everytime, even though he died in 2006 or so.
I wish i could forget that morning in 2001 when i watched the second plan hit the second tower live. I was near the san diego airport at the time. I was afraid to drive the few miles from my girlfriends apt to mine, looked at lindberg field, and saw all the planes had been grounded by that time. Just awful.
