So yesterday I tried really hard to recompile my kernel, but I must've been doing something wrong because I failed. Repeatedly. I am not worried, though. I'll simply persevere, blatantly ignoring the things I should've learnt (from my mistakes). I have managed to do some nice customising which means my comp is fast approaching the way I want it to be.

And I went to...

Ah, free snacky treats. Just the thing for a poor hungry student. Btw, you didn't get yourself on the 20/20 item about hell raising Otago students the other night, did you?
tobydog:
I think the piece was a bit of a beat up, actually. Kind of a "Lets show a bunch of middle class kids getting shit faced during Orientation - that'll stir people up." Students getting shit faced during Orientation is nothing new. They also showed the infamous steepest street in NZ where a young woman died in a wheelie bin. So all-in-all it made Dunedin look like the kind of place to be if you're young and want to get away from the olds and have a good time.

Whatever I said, I probably meant to mean it. Whataver it was. I forget. I drifted off. There were places I had to be that didn't necessarily help me, and places I've missed that may have. I'm awake now, I promise I'll try and be better.

Reform is imminent. I can't keep letting things like classes and my life slip by while I sleep. So...

I got sick, thart wasn't so great. I had a viral infection in my throat, and I felt like several kinds of crap for a while there.

Then I recovered, and last night my band opened for Goodshirt at the Town Hall. This I liked. Big sound system, big stage, big lights. I think we need to do something like that again soon.

Meanwhile I'm...

You, my friend, might be in a position to do just that. Are there any dolphins around NZ?

I have new headphones and they are spectacular. Sennheiser HD-some-number-of-some-description. They make me want to live my life better.

I'm drunk at 7pm and it's spectacular. Couple of beers in a cafe, couple when I got home. Cheep beer at the Arc tonight. It makes me want to do this more often.

I got my 4-track out last night and it was spectacular. Six new...

I just bought the Silverchair Live at Faraway Stables DVD/CD box. It's pretty darn boy-howdy good. Silvercahir are like the influence I forgot about. A friend described them as the whiny band it's okay to like, as long as you don't tell anyone.

So I enjoy it quite well. I also enjoyed playing solo at Arc the other night. I'm gonna take some time off...

I keep meaning to leanr some songs for my set tomorrow, and write some songs, or at least finish some songs that I'm writing for the next time we have band practice. Then I end up attacking the mould in the hallway and laughing at television.

You have to admit, television can be pretty funny. Like those crazy kids on the Fox Morning News or...

Yeah, I've always kind of thought of the people I 'meet' on the internet as imaginary, and they all stay in their own little internet locations. It's weird to see overlap. when that happens, I kind of have to admit to myself that there are other people out there using this interwebby thing, and they're not all just people I've imagined into being.

Great. Now I sound crazy.

mjollnir:
what is a leanr?
heheh, ok I admit, I'm a pedant.
When's your gig with the goodies? B is playing with them @ ori in Palmi on the 25th.

I got sick. Crippling pains, etc. Unable to move. I couldn't even make it from my bed to my computer. Well, I could have if I'd tried, but it seemed like an invalid and listen to Muse's Absolution on repeat. Although this music combined with fever did fuck with my dreams a little.

I'm going to do a mission to get emergency illness supplies soon....

I am not going to drink until next Tueday, I promise this now.

Only tomorrow's Waitangi/New Zealand Day and I kind of feel obliged to get drunk while my country divides itself bitterly.

No, I mustn't.
mjollnir:
YOU MUST! Do it for your country biggrin
Who am I kidding? I've got the flu and am sitting at home on the couch under a duvet watching family guy episodes on my laptop
tobydog:
Raybon Khan had quite a good piece in the Sunday paper that mentioned Waitangi Day -"How come no one ever says Happy Waitangi Day in NZ?"

Can't say I did much for Waitangi Day - the most celebration was to have a glass of wine with dinner (Boy, do I know how to live it up or what?)

Well whoop-dee doo and holly-golly. I went and dropped my programming class today. I felt a little bit pissed off that I wouldn't be able to do it any more, but then I reflected that at least I wouldn't have to sit up typing code for currency converters and other useless things any more.

One day I will, of course. Just not right now.

I...

Yo, we got the recording time cause we won a competition run by sbs over here. For unsigned bands doing interesting new kinds of music. It's all mixed and has been sent of to be mastered, can't wait to see the cds in the shops!

Enjoy the Rapture.

I don't know what the date is. I'm looking at my "past entries" column, and it means nothing to me because I don't know how long it's been between now and then. Quick thinl says: okay, that must've been about Wednesday. How can I forget the date? Just special I guess.

I'm still living out the dream of setting up Debian. I do a little...

Welcome to the continuation of my life. I don't quite remember where I was last time I visited y'all, and I can't be bothered reading my last journal to find out. I would probably bore myself.

I've headed towards the more rock'n'roll aspect of life ever sinceMjollnir came down last week. Either she's a bad influence, or I was looking for an excuse and...

Hi there Dangerobby

Yeah, I'm still lurking around here, but pretty infrequently at present, I must get off my slack old arse and be a bit more active.

Cool that you and mjollnir had a kind of NZ SGer's get together. I haven't checked lately to see how many of us there are, but it would be cool if we could get together.

OK, take care, keep pushing it musically, nothing like boredom to kill creativity.

I've been a bad boy. I've been sleeping all day and cutting class just so I can stay up all night and geek out on my computer. I've recently converted to Debian Linux, so I've been learning and configuring and playing and basically doing everything except my school work.

Like drinking beer and playing guitar - I've been doing that a lot. But no more....
