So I am a member of the feminist group here on the site. A feminist I am not, though I am sympathetic to many womens causes. I find it odd that the majority of the issues of the modern feminist seem to be related to pop culture and not the large issues. For example, no one posted a thing about the Unborn Victim of Violence Act approved by Congress until today. Christ it has been out there for well over a year. As it stands now the wording is only related to a violent act upon a pregnant woman, the wording is quite specific as to not infringe upon a woman's right to an abortion. But, it does open the door to a very slippery slope.
Another example that has been in the news for awhile is the sex discrimination at WalMart. Women on average make $.50 less then male employees for the exact same job, 60% of employees are women and only 20% have store management jobs.
Yet a third example is that of the Fortune 500 companies, there are only 7 female CEO's. Of these seven, 5 have outperformed the rest of the Fortune 500 last year. Women CEO's got their shit together. 56% of the workforce in Fortune 500 companies are female, yet they make up for less than 20% of the upper management.
I think these are more important issues concerning women then Paris Hilton, Courtney Love, and whether or not you shave.
Fuck, I know I am a man and don't have any right to decide what offends a woman, and usually I sit back and watch the rants. But, sometimes I just have to add a little common sense into the mix, whether it is taken negatively(which it usually is) or perhaps makes one think just a little differently. I think it is necessary.
Sorry ones opinion that challenges the Here! Here! (or is it Hear! Hear!) attitude on the feminist group is looked at as offensive. Sorry they are unwilling to grow past their narrow view and feminist propaganda beliefs.
Enough, What a great day I am going to have today! I will be hitting the clubs before going shopping and playing with the Goddess and the lil guy today. It may be gray outside, but it is sunny in our souls today.
