welp, another successful night of Diablo 2 is now drawing to a close... i believe Johann and i may have found the perfect class team-up: Necromancer and Werebear Druid.
the necro does crowd control (iron maiden, corpse explosion) and can take over when it gets too rough for close combat (golem tanks instead of druid, bone spear for range), and the druid is a superb tank... high hp and defense werebears are just dandy for it. once the druid gets Hunger, the necro can stop babysitting him with Lifetap and go full time Iron Maiden.
using this combo we went from act 1 through to disposing of diablo in... well... a really long time (hi, 8am... yeah) but it was fun and we did every single quest. kind of anti-climactic though. i just parked a blood golem in front of Big D and let him Maiden himself to death quite quickly while the golem kept me alive.
tomrrow (this evening when i get up) we'll have a grand day out in the bloody foothills. i can't wait.
