I know it's a bit of an old tradition, but I have not received flowers since my junior year of high school. When I did, it was a single rose from a female friend on Valentine's Day. I've hinted at it throughout my relationships, even flat out said it, still nothing. It would be so sweet to get flowers at work or something surprising and...

@lord_renob I'm not holding my breath, but it's ok, I'm past all of that with him now. Any gift I get is always appreciated by me, especially from friends.

I am sorry to see this.ย  I used to bring my wife flowers a couple times a month.

@chefdaddy a friend turned me onto it. It's a really good show! I watched a few episodes yesterday.

I watched them a long time ago but I would love to own the whole series.ย

So, Duke's labwork came back. All normal except some protein in his urine [not totally uncommon]. We did x-rays to check for masses, nothing. Only findings are his horrible spine, which I've known about for a few years. It has progressively gotten worse. The other finding is 'old dog lungs', where they look cloudy but have no real medical significance. So now we send out...

@chefdaddy thanks, he does ok on his meds, I may have to add more supplements soon. And yeah, I need something, not sure what. @derkthejerk me too, he's my cranky old man but I love him. @littlejohn22 thank you.

My old man Duke has been what's referred to as PUPD [polyuric/polydipsic] which is medical terminology for excessively urinating and excessively thirsty. Been going on for about 2 weeks. I took him to work tonight for some labwork, results Thursday.

The symptoms can be due to a variety of reasons, they're very non-specific. He's not eating excessively, so that kind of rules out diabetes. He...

@chef diabetes is easily controllable. If my dog has kidney disease, even with meds, diet change, etc, it's still a poor prognosis. He's 12. It just depends on if his values are elevated, how high are they, there are 4 stages to kidney disease. Most times it isn't found until stage 2. I'm kind of jumping to conclusions here. I just have to wait, which is one of my problems. In the meantime I will go through 100 different scenarios in my head, most of which aren't plausible, but my mind will create them anyways ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Turkey Day turned out decent. I made turkey, corn casserole, and sausage stuffing. Timing was perfect. Everything turned out tasty [not to toot my own horn]. I'm grateful for that at least. Everyone loved my food, which makes me feel nice.

This is the first major holiday without my gram. I've been crying on and off all day. It's hard for me to smile or...

@jaxons thanks, it is hard. I think it's so hard because I'm an adult now. The last very close relative that died was my grandpa when I was 17. I do have great memories of her, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but today it's hard to think on those. All my mind wants to focus on is that she isn't here. Still haven't made the drive home yet ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

hope thanksgiving was awesome and you have a great weekend ahead

I put my little rat Zoey to sleep today. She was middle aged as far as rats go. She had a tumor for a few months that recently got bigger. She just wasn't herself the last day or two, I knew it was time. She wasn't very affectionate, but she was a cutie and pretty entertaining. The little she did let me hold and pet...

Aww, I'm sorry for you :( I also have two rats who tend to have respiratory infections, I am really scared something happens to them, but the great thing is now you little guy won't suffer anymore :( rats have such a short life expectancy :(ย

Boba is finally complete. 4 weeks after my first session, I went in for the final session. In total around 6.5 hours, my longest tattoo. The last half hour was grueling, I kept squeezing my other leg to distract myself from the pain. We took no breaks, he was excited to get it finished. I'm so happy with it. It's by far my favorite tattoo...

Put on my sweater duster and found the contents of its pockets: a dozen tissues in each. I was puzzled for a moment, I'm not one to carry those around. Then I realized it was because the last time I wore my duster was at my grandma's wake in April. It's been 6 months since she died. It seems both longer and shorter than that....

I'm having one of those days. One of those days where I just want to say 'fuck it' and let loose with everything I have bottled up inside. But the more rational, less fire-tempered redhead in me says to calm my titties and just breathe. I think I'll listen to her, she can be smart. She reminds me that I'm going to have sushi with...

4 years ago this little guy, along with his 10 siblings, came into my clinic. It was shady, the client says 'someone stole the mom' and the babies weren't taking to bottles. She was overwhelmed with 11 4 week old pitbull/rottweiler puppies and begged us to take some. Technically we don't take strays, dumped pets, etc. I looked at all the adorable puppies and saw...

I could not foster.ย  The letting go would be too hard.
cvtgrrl_shan:
It is hard @glass42, but knowing they will be in good homes is enough for me to let go. This guy was the hardest, partially because he was a baby and partially because he's half pitbull [my favorite!]ย
