Wow. Things here are insane, at least they were, but now they have calmed down.
My good friend from high school came to visit me for the weekend, but in actuality had an ulterior motive to hook up with some guy who she had never met but plays World of Warcraft with, which I didn't even hear about until she got here. Some guy who most likely lives with his parents, is a droput and "between jobs."
So I come home from school, and this guy is sitting on my couch. She didn't even tell me that she was going to bring him over. He leaves eventually, but things are pretty strained with us after that. She isn't talkative and is kind of moody. At first I thought it was me, but it wasn't.
So during dinner I tell her of plans to go to a club on Saturday night, and she says (and I quote) "Is it okay if *guy* comes too? Because I'm going to feel uncomfortable around all these people I don't know." MIss Social Butterfly says this to my face. She has known me since she was 16 years old, and she has met *guy* once.
He comes over again at about 2pm, when he was going to come over that night, and they take off for about 2 hours. So my friend, who had come over to meet her, gets hungry and we decide to leave. We come back home, and everyone watches a movie. Later on they leave for dinner, knowing full well we were all going out around 10 and they stroll in at about 10:30. That really upset me.
We go out for drinks and she is so all over *guy* that she doesn't even attempt to speak to any of my friends (or to me, for that matter). I give my friend the set of keys to m y place that I gave her and he leaves, and we go to a club. About an hour in, she says that she and *guy* are heading out, and will my friend let them into my place. I say "He's not going, is he?" which really surprised her for some reason. I said "Why don't you just go back to his place?" and she answers "He lives 45 minutes away." The rest went something like this:
"Well, it's not like you came here to see me."
"What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Think about how much time you've spent with him over me."
"You had school, and..."
"And you ditched us..."
"We left for 2 hours from your friend who wouldn't even talk to me."
"What the hell? You didn't say two words to him!"
"Well, that's not the way I saw it."
"Before that we sat in silence for an hour and you wouldn't talk to me!"
"You could've talked to me....(trails off)"
"Listen. When we were eating sushi, you said that you wanted *guy* to come here because you would be uncomfortable around people you don't know. Youv'e known me since you were 16. You've known him for TWO DAYS."
(blinks) "I'm sorry."
She then walked away. I had a fun club night with my actual friends, and when I came back home around 3:30am, all of her things were gone. My friend who was here said she mentioned something about a hotel. I hope she stays there. I can't believe that she expected me to put up with such bullshit. There is a lot of other shady shit to this story but I'm not going to type it all out here. Anyway, I am super relieved that she left and I hope she doesn't try to come back.

Hey Curi,

I know you're going through other stuff, so it sucks that all of this is going down now. Alas, there's always that moment when you realize that you no longer have anything in common with or, in some cases, aren't really even friends with people from high school or college. Sometimes it's when you have no desire to go their wedding. Other times it's when they don't make time to see you. At any rate, every time it happens, it sucks.
