Yesterday, I pulled off what I can only consider a miracle of working hard and being very alert to an extremely dynamic political situation. I am still stunned that I managed to pull this off.

Since December, I've been on a dream contract thanks to the drummer of Sins of Lust.

Tuesday, my contract was terminated - along with everyone else that had been provided to IBM by the same consulting firm. I had a lot of money stashed away, so I knew I could take my time looking for something else.

When my contract ended, ALL my projects were left incomplete, in mid progress and in shambles without any Database Administrator to work on them. There was such an angry uproar from the project managers and the delivery project executive handling the end customer (Honeywell) that it reached the officers of IBM Americas.

I received a call on Wednesday (day after I was let go) from one of the executive team program managers asking me if there was any way I would consider coming back under a different consulting firm. I agreed.

What happened next left me stunned.

I was told I would now be the Database Administration Team Leader for the project - and was asked to hand pick the other members of the team and get them hired!!!

I had them hire a guy I actually hired to replace myself on a previous contract - an excellent and very skilled DBA. And of course, I hired my very dear friend JP.

This is a fantastic victory. I am absolutely stunned beyond words that things turned out this way. How often can you get fired from a job, and get hired back as the team leader 2 days later?

It feels very good that people took notice of all the hard work I was doing there.

Just Holy SHIT!!!!
