Tomorrow is Thanksgiving....the perfect manifestation of a gluttonous American holiday. It starts with the traditional Macys parade in the morning. Mom prepares the turkey. We indulge ourselves in a wasteful feast at a time of day that is considered neither lunch nor dinner, eating until we are stuffed to the gills. Then, we sit around, hands in our pants, watching football or falling asleep or both. Rolling ourselves off the couch we have that leftover turkey sandwich and fall into bed high on tryptophan.
Isnt it great to be living in America? No wonder so many other countries dislike us. We have attitude and think our shit doesnt stink. We have voracious holidays that glamorize spending beyond our limits and wasteful overeating when we should be spending time with family or helping out those in need within our own communities.
Ill be home, making a small meal for my husband and myself. Nothing extravagant. Hopefully playing video games all afternoon. Too bad our girlfriend can't join us, but she has family stuff to contend with, I'm sure. *sigh* I'll have to wait until next week.
