What a day...I just went from working 60 hours a week to working about 30. In Three weeks I'm going climbing in West Virginia, and a week later I go back to class. Ultimate Disc all weekend....

Talk about Epic...I just got the Fratellis' new album and it blew my F'**in' mind. I understand it's not the kind of music everyone would love, but for some reason it suits me just right. Like a lot of good albums, the radio song is the only low point. The rest is like cheesecake for my ears...
I also picked up Gimme Fiction by Spoon, another gem. And the last album by the New Pornographers called twin cinema is like an auditoury eargasm every time I put it on. Can't seem to ever grow tired of it although I know eventually one day I finally will...

Yesterday was ultimate frisbee. This is in my top 5 of all time favorite activities, right up there with hiking, playing guitar, sleeping, and makin' love. I made what was possibly the best catch of my life, flying paralell to the turf at full speed, and skidding about 10 feet through the grass before coming to the stop with the disc.

I completely believe that throwing a frisbee is something everyone can do...it's just that until you get the hang of it, it is so frustrating. I mean imagine throwing a tennis ball to someone 20 meters away and it ends up landing in the forest or a nearby river.
No matter how you try to throw it the basics remain the same: 1) keep the frisbee level to the ground as you throw. 2) step towards your target as you throw with whichever foot feels more comfortable. 3) refrain from trying to throw the frisbee too hard, or wildly swinging your arm, the key to a successful throw is the flick of the wrist and the follow-through. Much like shooting a basketball. 4) After releasing the disc, you should be pointing directly at your target...this ensures optimum accuracy.
I hope that helps Jen and Nnumbe, and anyone else that might like to take up frisbee as a relaxing hobby.
