Well, now I'm just the sad because I apparently live on the wrong coast! Actually, I might be going to Philly so at least I'll get to meet Morgan at some point.

Crazy weekend here. On Friday I saw Cinerama. I was kinda hoping to run into a college acquaintance I recently learned lives in DC, who is the biggest Wedding Present fan I ever...

Nobody responded to my ad... I am the sad.

I officially have too many favorites for three spots, so I will now begin to rotate them on a semi-regular basis.

Wait... what's that? A tug on the line?

Wow! What a haul! This fishing for compliments thing REALLY WORKS!

Heehee...

I recognize (or have been forced to realize in the last few years) that I'm not actually hideously deformed and frightful to look upon, but all the same that really is a good picture of me. I have to remember who took it and thank them some time...

Ill reply too- consider me applied! Especially if Jess is part of this!

Looks: Medium-tall, quite thin, brown eyes, curly brown hair with sideburns, indie-boho glasses, nice lips, ass of a 12-year-old girl

Enjoys: Reading, writing (but never finishing) short stories, playing music, listening to music, cooking, drinking, going to shows, dancing at shows, telling stories

Foibles: vegetarian, introvert, non-smoker, scotch drinker, terminal procrastinator, comic reader, reflexively sarcastic, stick-shift driver, crazy leftist, overall cynic/pessimist (but cheerfully so,) witty,...

Hmm, haven't updated in a while. Not much to say. There's some crazy bastard out there with a sniper rifle shooting people. I know he hasn't actually shot anyone in DC yet, but I get a little freaked every time I go out... especially anywhere downtown.

On that tip, DC needs more guitar stores. Some place on U St or Logan or Adams-Morgan. I'm sick...

My housemate owned, up until very recently, a nutcracker named Boris. Boris dressed in garish hussar clothing and stood, arms proudly akimbo, grinning and towering haughtily over the miniature kremlin-style buildings at his feet.

He was a gift from her stepmother. She's always disliked Boris, but no matter how she tried she could not bring herself to throw him out:

"I can't get rid of...

Wandered over to Adams-Morgan to follow up on some job leads, with no luck. Ended up spending money instead-- bought a few CDs (Mekons, Low, Spoon, Shipping News) and rented a few DVDs (The Man Who Wasn't There, Donnie Darko, The Lady Eve). Now I suppose I should listen/watch, but instead I'm surfing the net.

The more I check out the boards, the more I...

Im first in line with you to TP the white house!!!! I have a damn good marshmellow trick my parents neighbors hated when its cold out if it takes that long....
jessica:
You start it DC man! Although tping the White House would be a pretty hard feat! Even getting grass of the lawn is difficult. I had my friend do that once for me. My mom found the grass in a baggie and was like "what's this!". I told her grass. And she said "I know it's GRASS, but why do you have it in your desk! Are you doing drugs?!"

Last night I went with my friends to see "Spirited Away." I'm trying to find a way to explain just how much I enjoyed it without turning into a gibbering idiot. I love everything I've ever seen by Miyazaki and this was no exception. I just sat watching the whole movie with my mouth either hanging open or stuck in a big, silly grin that...

ahhhh! I am *so* jealous. I have to have to have to see this movie. All of the Miyazaki / Ghibli films are just utterly magical.

I completely forgot it was opening Friday. Must go check film listings NOW!

Whoo! It's ma birfday!

How do I feel? Tired, slightly depressed... could this be the onset of old age? Or was it just my housemate's cat waking me at 8AM to remind me that she's out of town and it's my job to supply the catfood?

Cats don't have snooze buttons.

I can already tell that it's going to be an effort to force myself...

If only cats did have snoozebuttons. That has to be one of the best impossible ideas I have ever heard.

Happy Birthday!

I keep getting job leads that keep evaporating before my eyes... I know persistence is key, but I tend to get discouraged too easily and spend a week feeling sorry for myself. Then by the time I get myself out there again all the other job leads have vanished and the cycle starts anew.

At least I can still afford to go out and get...

I spent the weekend at SPX, doing volunteering, hanging out with my comixgeek friends, checking out the indie comics action, spending more than I can really afford, and stargazing.

I got to meet:
Los Bros Hernandez(!)
Evan Dorkin
Carla Speed McNiel
Antony Johnston
Eddie Campbell

And my volunteer duties consisted of crowd control at an Art Spiegelman signing, though I didn't get to meet the...

Wow... I haven't been to a ska show since I moved to Boston and realized that the ska fans there all think they're too cool to dance. How is it in DC?
