I've really been slacking for the past year, but there's hope that I might be getting my act together. Like yesterday.

Yesterday I finally called to get an appointment to get my car fixed, I finally got health insurance to replace my (increasingly expensive) COBRA, I finally Emailed a few places about doing volunteer work (to get me out of the apartment on a semi-reguular basis), I even dropped off a job application (just gotta do that a dozen or so more times).

I also got a haircut at last (it'd been since April) and finally got around to giving myself a belated birthday present: a new hole in the head.

Then I went to the Black Cat (mini bottle of Listerine in tow) and saw Shellac. I'd seen them maybe 3 times before, but I was there with some friends who were Shellac virgins. They did "Prayer to God" and "Rush Job," neither of which I'd seen live before, and a really great, extra long version of "The Billiard Player Song."

It was great. It would've been beter if the gaggle of loud fuckwits hadn't been standing right next to us, but such is live music.

Now, if I really want to get my life together I have to start writing again. I signed up at http://www.nanowrimo.org and I'm hoping that will kickstart/inspire me.
