This was taken about 11 years ago when I was in college. The picture was taken in our dorm lounge. The school was located in Chicago and had 2 men’s dorms and there was always pranks between both buildings. One of the guys on my floor (Jon) has a brother (Brandon) who lives in the other building. One day, Brandon found “Dennis” here in a dumpster behind a taco restaurant that we all frequented (massive burritos and tortas). So, they snuck on our floor during dinner and put it in his bed. So, we dressed it up and took this shot, posted it on Facebook and said “Name our new mascot”. I said “Definitely Dennis Hopper!”
At some point they got on the floor, took him back, and sent Jon a text with a photo saying “Stay away or the bunny gets it….” We wouldn’t be threatened, so we ran across the campus and took him back.
Now, our lounge is in the middle of the floor with a parallel hallway on each side, which is where our rooms are. So, I’m sitting on the couch with my arm around Dennis (my right) my RA is sitting next to me on my left. The couch is against the rear wall about 6-7 feet from the door. There’s about 8 other guys in the lounge with us. You know how they say in a forest when there’s a predator present everything gets quiet?
I turn my head to my RA and say “I think I have athletes foot from the shower.” As soon as the “R” from shower left my lips EVERYTHING went silent and in a split second both doors swung open and 15 guys burst into the room. I noticed one from a class I had and I knew what they were there for….
I immediately wrapped BOTH ARMS around Dennis and was able to get my hooks (legs) around him….thank you Brazilian Jiujitsu. I got lifted off the couch with the rabbit and under 20 guys trying to wrestle Dennis here away. I eventually lost my grip and wriggled my way out (I’m scrappy). We ended up fighting them off but unfortunately, Dennis’ arm was nearly severed. He was unable to be saved…
