I took the day off from work/homework and decided to get a bit creative with the house. I bought a book a few days ago called 'stenciling and stamping' and decided to give some of the designs a try. We live in a rental place, but I figure if I keep the alterations minimal we can just patch over them when its time to move on. Or leave them. I don't know if the real estate would notice/care anyway.

This was by far the best attempt. Its a roman urn and its on the lintel of the fireplace in the loungeroom

acryllic blue and gold/silver paints and just a paper stencil and sponge application. I did a layer of the gold/silver mix and then the blue on top to get a marbelled effect. It sorta worked, but the flash photography kills the shimmery effect. The paper got all curly and stuff when I pulled it off the wall after I'd applied the paint making it non-reuseable.

Second attempt. Not quite as nice as the first. Its a celtic design above the fireplace in the dining room.

I used an overhead projector piece of skinny plastic to do this stencil and it smeared a bit, which is why I decided to sponge a square around the design to hide the smudge. I used red oil paint and gold acryllic to do this one. I definitely don't reccomend the oil paint for this kind of stuff. It gets everywhere! I still haven't gotten it out of the sponge I used. The acryllic paint just rinses off everything. The plastic worked just as well as the paper, but make sure you tape it down perfectly because otherwise it will shift. The paper stencil just kinda stuck itself down once I started sponge-ing. This one didn't.

Thankyou to Mr. Wonderful for buying me these cute warm boots off my wishlist!

I have really bad circulation and with winter coming I'm going to need all the warmth I can get! Thanks!

That's all for now
xoxo
