The NY subways sometimes have Poetry in Motion posters in them, on which they display various poems for the sake of entertaining the commuters. I liked this one by Jalaludin Rumi. It made me feel peaceful. It's nice when very few words can say so much so easily.

Arg. New look for SG. I guess I'll get used to it eventually. It seems a bit buggy for now, though. Sometimes it all seems to be gilding the lily, you know? Anyway, I can tell it's going to be a lazy Saturday for me. The weather has finally cleared up, thank goodness. My seedlings had been dying slowly because the soil couldn't dry out...

Ewww, bratwurst. That's just so gross!
I can still recall how unpleasant it was to chew on gristle.
And, of course, I wouldn't imagine that I could do a Wisconsin accent, either. I'm just hopeless, I suppose.

Check this out for a gooooood chuckle. It's really well done, except for maybe one picture. And then some are just so well done that it's scary.

Maybe I'm preaching to the choir, and maybe it's going to be a downer on this otherwise happy site, but I just felt I had to post this as a sign of the times. This is written by the man John Malkovich once made death threats against, I guess because he was seen as being a terrorist lover in Mr. Whakovich's eyes.

I have to respect Don Ho. No, not in a "Robert Fisk's journalistic bravery in the face of corporate media culture" way (I was in the UK in spring 2003 and his accounts of the war were so far beyond the sycophantic tripe we were served in the US), but, in a "he appeared on the Brady Bunch" way.
Silly woman. I don't know *why* you'd want to spill butter on yourself, Perhaps it's a cry for attention? Well, maybe if it were Afterbirth, I'd think that...

My friend, Brynn, wanted me to see her neighbor's apartment when I was over the last time. It's not really an apartment; it's a room with a bathroom, a closet, and a little sink and counter that serves as a micro-kitchenette. Before I went into the woman's room, Brynn had warned me that it would be a very shocking sight. Brynn was watching the woman's...

Oh, come on, we're all friends here. Admit it, you do love me, especially my all-encompassing humility!

Yes, yes, balancing a drug addiction with a fondness for firearms requires enormous physical and mental energies. It's no wonder that you have the hands of a cadaver!
In the interest of full disclosure, my hands aren't all that they could be at the moment, either. They're rather slimy (for a variety of reasons) and I don't believe that washing them does anyone any good.

My husband and I ditched out on a BBQ out on the Jersey shore. Spending hours on a train on Memorial Day sounded like more of a chore than a treat, so we went to Brighton Beach instead. It was fucking cold! I was wearing a hoodie on top and my bathing suit bottom, until it got so cold that I had to put the...

my grandfathers brothers were in the 449 in WW2. it was the Japanese-American unit. The most highly decored unit. My grandfather didnt go though, stayed home and took care of his mom. Really afftected his life (no GI bill for him).
I had a friend in the Coast Guard (she called it the pussy branch of the military). I visited her once in Hawaii and hung out with her friends, was really my only exposure to the service. She had to quit so she could marry an enlisted man. She always said the military was a big socialist experiment.
waves middle name? really?
waveland sheffield - you know the story, right?

I wouldn't say I'm an experienced gardener, but I am getting better at it with each year. I think I used to always over- or under-water plants. They can't talk, goddammit, and that complicates matters. I think I'm at the point where I'm no longer having watering crises. My best friend, Brynn, has a large roof, so she and her boyfriend like to grow a...

Random rant on Suicide Girls' tendency for bad lighting:
That white light that looks like a flourescent bulb -- yuk! It looks like a big halogen spotlight was used in a lot of sets, and that's unfortunate. I was just looking at one girl's set, and I was thinking how awful the lighting was, and she has a comment from someone saying, "Love the light!"...

And now for some mini-exhibitionism. I was playing around with a friend's camera and a booklet of light filter samples. Some results are more interesting than others. It's funny how certain colors can make a person look completely different.

Okay, I seem to be pretty inept at posting pics in my journal, even though I followed Afterbirth's advice. That worked perfectly well ONCE, and then it crapped out after that. Any pointers leading me toward success? I could read the SG FAQ, but FAQ's tend to be full of BS.

i dunno, Afterbirth taught me everything i know

and you summed it up perfectly
"very few words can say so much so easily"
and that is really a gift that many writers don't actually posess.
but poets tend to figure it out and make it look somewhat easy don't they?
