Week (Weak) Endings

Tonight, then before.

Hung out with the best friend today. She was unusually open and talkative about emotional issues troubling her, and we had a great breakfast. She's such an awesome person and I love her to bits because of it, I just wish she had better taste in men. Like maybe, don't date assholes. Is that a plea for her to...

Nick Cave. All I can say to your No More Shall We Part album is my gawd. Best album I've heard in a long time. I love it.

Now I've gotta dig up my copy of And the Ass Saw the Angel and give it a re-read.

It's been a little while that I've been this excited by music.

Reflections

2005 was a great year. By any standard - personal growth, song writing, gadget acquiring, job opportunities, it was a winner. 2005 was hands down the best year of my life.

The biggest thing I learnt this year regards reltaionships. I had dated this one girl for 5 years and thought we were going to get married. We broke up right at the ass...

Happenings:

Talked with my dad today and he mentioned that my mom is sick, but they only live together not talk together, so he knows she's taking pills but has no idea what for, and knows that sometimes she can hardly walk... and then has the gall to claim that perhaps she's making it up. Yes. Sometimes he just says the worst possible thing.

Talking...

Christmas was great!

Had one of the nicest family get-togethers with my immediate family Christmas Eve. Now usually any sort of Swick family get together consists of a lot of bickering, especially between my mom and dad, and everyone else trying to politely ignore, hoping it'll stop, and getting generally uncomfortable. This year however we were all prepared for it and had all agreed that...

I'm too impatient.

Waiting beside the phone for her to call and let me know that the 75% of her that wants to continue seeing me has hushed the remaining 25% into non-existence. I can feel my mind polluting itself with tragedies, all too familiar, the ones that I struggle to keep out of my head. I have an exceptionally awful imagination - everything I...

December is flying past too quickly...

Nevertheless, it's been a great end of the year. Went down to Oregon for a week and had a blast with a bunch of really great people. Bought a tonne of CDs at Everyday music - holy cow now that's a music store - found everything from Throbbing Gristle to Black Tape for a Blue Girl to Tracy Bonham...

She was right. Things do always get better...

My friend whom I had coffee with on Sunday invited me for coffee again on Monday and wanted to talk about a boy and all the problems associated with the Infernal Species. It was a great talk, pretty much the opposite of Sunday's. We talked about boys, we talked about why people accept dissatisfactions;...

The city is grey today. The people too.

I can't exactly put my finger on why everything is so bland today. My mood, the weather, my conversations, other people. All desaturated. Coffee with my best friend felt like an akward first date, minus any sexual innuendos and the excitement of meeting someone new. Scratch all that and just leave the akward silences and the feeling...

I'm amazed by people. Everyone single person has a story, full of tragedy and triumph, everyone has the worst day ever, everyone has so many things happening or having happened; it's really quite absurd to acknowledge that we all fit together somehow. There are no clear cut villains in these stories, well, rarely, and more often than not individuals are too ready to blame someone...
