Hi there.
This is my first entry in this bog, but I won't write much about my daily life. Because honestly, who wants to read the adventures of a student giving additional lessons? I mean, I can write about the sometimes strictly idocy of some of my students, which would be extremely funny. But dumb kids are produced in nearly every schoolsystem and ignorance regarding certain parts of education is normal.
So, what do I want to write about? I'm multi-interested and today I would like to speak about some observations I made. This one is about looks and how people are defined by them.
Let's start on a small level and build it up. My parents think of themselves as open-minded people. They got friends who are Turkish, worked with gays (me too, because I work for the same company as my mom does).
But as soon as it comes down to a private level, they mutate to moralists with ideas from the 50's. Especially involving my person. I have a good friend who I really like. She is a fun person, intelligent and straight forward. But she is a single mother, currently pregnant from her boyfriend and considered future husband. Oh, and she is a tatooed goth. And this is why my parents, mostly my mom, is ogjected to her. Even though she has never spoken to her.
Tatooes are bad and all goths are satanists, waiting to sacrifice a virgin on fullmoon. That's what she thinks and most other uninformed people.
But this problem is not only limited to the mainstream society. Every form of society has issues with people who don't fit their ideal. They seperate themselves from the mainstream because they feel it doesn't give them the deserved respect. On the other hand, they also but people aside who also feel misunderstood but chose a different way to express that.
What I want to say is, I am activ on different platforms on the internet and, so it hasn't happend here, I mostly don't get an answer when I write people, because of the way I look. They don't write back, not even a "I don't want to talk to you.". I know, I don't look like the posterchild for anything, but being rejected just because of what you look like? Come on.
Of course I'm curious what you think about it. Write me back.
Bye,
Lars
