My husband's subordinate broke his Calcaneus in Iraq.

Calcaneus: pronounced cock-anus.

From wikipedia..."In humans, the calcaneus or heel bone is a bone of the tarsus of the foot which constitute the heel. In some other animals, it is the point of the hock"............So next time you're kicked in the teeth during your martial arts class you can say he kicked me with his..... cock-anus. I plan on integrating calcaneus into my daily vocabulary on a whole new level.

He was just going down a latter, but I told my husband he should put him in for a Purple Heart anyway. After all, when he gets out, what would be a better pick up line then that?

"yeah, um ((flexes biceps)) I got a Purple Heart when I was deployed in 2009.
"OMG! What for?!?" ((maternal instincts kicking in to hyperdrive))
"I broke my calcaneus"
biggrin

ETA: Apparently breaking your cock-anus gets you sent home whatever
I told my husband to get a really deep paper cut and see it that works.

Have you ever broken a bone?

32 broken so far.... bound to have over 33 knowing my luck by this time next yearfrown Not an adrenaline junkie or anything, just get stuck working at non-profit theaters that have very little in the way of safety gear.

I try not to wish medical discharge on any of our fellow servicemembers simply because Murphy's Law kicks in. My folks and I joked about it with my brother, and a month later he WAS sent home: Somehow a gun barrel was being replaced and, as it was on a ceiling winch track it somehow got out of control and slid out of the hands of the guy that was moving it. My brother got popped in the mouth and lost nearly all his teetheeek 6 months of surgery and new dental implants all the way round. Don't get me wrong: They did a great job and his teeth are the only thing that look great on him....

But man, I felt kind of like I jinxed it by saying "eh, he should get a non-combat injury in the field so he can get out of there".

Send your man our thanks!
