Continuing from my last journal ---

Ok, now as I've promised, are highlights of the Philly Live Aid show at JFK -

The Pretenders -> Back On The Chain Gang

Easily my favorite Pretenders song, I love it when the crowd comes in early with the vocals.

---

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - American Girl

Tell me, why did Ben Franklin glasses ever go out of fashion? biggrin

---

The Cars - Just What I Needed

Whenever I see this video I think of how much the Cars seemed like the "Revenge of The Nerds" band. Except for their bassist Ben Orr, they all looked so nerdy. And at that time they were experimenting more with computer sounds for the Heartbeat City album. Still, they probably rock as hard as any New Wave group.

---

Neil Young - The Needle (And The Damage Done)

One of the shortest and yet most powereful songs ever written.

---

Zeppelin Reunion - Whole Lotta Love

Stairway To Heaven

For being as drunk as Page was, it's amazing that he could play guitar even at that level. He deserves some sort of Grammy for that, I think. wink

---

Bob Dylan, Ron Wood, and Keith Richards - When My Ship Comes In

Blowin' In The Wind

That line about paying off mortages for farmers in America didn't go over too well. At least not with the organizers. But Bob's never been shy about telling you what's on his mind, so it shouldn't have been too suprising. wink

Good pic here
I'm pretty sure you'll want to check out this Patti Smith new album release info!!! Wonder if a tour may follow. She's doing some art exhibits in NYC & boston, I think, but I don't know about shows. But how about this album news coinciding with her upcoming Hall of Fame induction with REM!!!!!

Ha, that was great. I love the end when the singer/guitarist is trying so hard to strum that same chord. The song is really cool though. I love that weird old garage type music, especially if there's an organ present. smile
