What a weekend? Over all good, but splashed with stupidity none the less, lol. I guess I will start of from the beginning?;
Day 1, 7am; get the car all packed up, waiting for junky to get here. So heather and I get all packed up. He is Late as always, says I thought we were leaving your place at 8am? no, we are leaving the woodbury at 8? Go figure, would be the calling card of the weekend I guess.
Day 1, 7:30am; junky finally gets to my place to meet up with us, as well as another guy by the name of Damien? (More on him later, like a fucking soap opera, lol) so we get all situated, get all the gear into the cars, and get on our way.
Ok, about this Damien guy? Just a kid who is in mpls for work for a few months. He has been coming to my work to get me to help him out on his car for the last couple of weeks. He lives out in utah, and really proves to me that I have yet to meet anyone from utah who is anywhere near normal? Anyways, I told him about the show, and he decided that morning he was going to come with. Oh well, one more cant hurt, right? Wrong, he is an ass, and had everyone all pissed for the better part of the drive. Even got pulled over once we crossed into Illinois? It gets better, lol. He has no license? Was driving on a suspended one actually?? Yeah, great start to the trip.
Day1, 8am; we all arrive in woodbury, and hurry up and wait? Lol. Everyone is off to a great start today I guess. Some people are just leaving their homes by the time we get there, so we wait, get gassed up, and grab some munchies for the ride. We end up heading out around 8:30- 8:40, and meet some of the late people on the highway..
11:45 am or so; stop off to get some gas, and a much needed bathroom break, everything seems fine so far. No one has broken down yet, and everyone is accounted for
11:55 am; scratch the part about no one breaking down, lol. One of the boys cant get his car above 2k rpms??? We sit on the on ramp trying to figure it out for about 20 minutes, finally deciding to run the car back up the on ramp and back to the gas station. Me and a few others shoot ahead to catch everyone else, while a few stick around to fix the car. Nothing like finding a part to fix a Volkswagen in an old vintage car parts store for old model A fords, lol.
12:25 or so; Asshat from utah gets pulled over?? We were all cruising along, and out of nowhere, I have an Illinois state trooper on my ass. So we all move over, and he slowly goes by and checks us all out. Then swings back, and yanks him. Must have had the plate come back or whatnot? So there goes another 45 minutes of waiting before they finally let him go. With my roomie jed driving now, instead of him, lol. Go figure, he is just lucky that they didnt cart him off to jail, lol.
Day 1, 3:30 or so; So we arrive in Chicago?? Only our group could turn a 6 hour at the most road trip, into 7+ hours of stop and go hell? It wasnt that bad, but the whole suspended license deal really pissed me off. Oh well, I tried to just not think about it, and have a good time.
We got in trouble as soon as we checked in, lol. Took over a hose on the side of the building to wash some cars, but only got 2 done before they shut us down, lol. Something about being liable if someone were to slip and fall. He didnt like it when I asked well, what do you do when it rains out? Not let people walk into the parking lot?. oh well, I am never the one to talk to authority figures. And we all wonder why, lol..
The rest of the night was spent trying to get the car all cleaned up, and heading off to dinner with some of the Chicago peoples. Nice to meet some new faces, as well as some old ones. had been 2 years since I had been down there to see anyone. Dinner was a good time, that is until time to pay up for the bill. Damien took it upon himself to order food and whatnot, but didnt bother telling anyone that he didnt have any money. So you can imagine where the rest of the night went from there. I was trying to be the nice guy, and didnt want to be mean to the kid, so I just kinda let it go. I dont want to hash out the rest of the weekend too much, but it was pretty hectic. By Saturday though, Heather had had enough of his bullshit, and threw him out of the room. ( thank you for doing that hun) . then we got thrown out of our room for something outside of our control. So we had to crash in another room the night before the show
To finish off a longer then expected entry, I ended up taking 1st place in my class? I had no idea, and was about to get moving to head out when they announced it, lol. It was nice to get some recognition for all the work I have into the thing. We had already packed up the car before we headed to the show, so we took off for home as soon as it was over. Long ass day, to say the least. Made it home safe and sound, and with no new speeding tickets either, so thats a plus.
Overall, it was an amazing weekend, with just a few small headaches. Heather got to see here sister for the 1st time in a few years. And It was good to get away with my best friend for the 1st time in a while as well. Makes all the feelings that much stronger
