well, it may not cost $6000 as the bastards originally said, besides i wouldn't put that much into a 1996 jetta anyhoo (plus i've put 46,000 miles on it in just over 2 years, when i bought it used). that quote was for a brand new engine from the dealer. i got a rental car today. tomorrow morning i try to see what shred of hope if any there might be....maybe just the heads can be replaced? otherwise at least get a rebuilt? trash if for the insurance money (theft, fire, over a cliff) and get a new ride?
