It's Earth Hour tonight, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm your local time. Earth Hour is a worldwide movement to turn off unnecessary lights, and reduce other unnecessary electricity consumption, to demonstrate public attention to energy efficiency and global warming. The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) is calling on its members to participate.
So if it's clear this evening, stick your head out after 8:30 and see if the sky looks a bit darker! I doubt it will, unless you're in one of the major cities that are participating. Some cities have made serious Earth Hour efforts in the four years since the movement began (in Sydney, Australia), and skywatchers in such places have seen a genuine (if short-lived) improvement in sky quality.
