Ok, I've had time to think + breathe since my first journal entry this morning.
Also talked about last night to our guitarist. Which helped.
First off I'll begin by saying this - Never in my time of going to gigs and playing them have I seen a crowd as bad as last night's. It's not as if there was no-one there and it's not even as if we were bottled or heckled. Heck, I like it when people bottle us + heckle us - at least we're provoking a reaction! These people didn't even clap. We didn't even get a round of applause when our set finished. There were perhaps 2 or 3 people clapping at all; out of about 50 or so people. So, the turnout wasn't great - but they didn't even acknowledge us.
Plus to top that off because I was so pissed off I made a major fuck-up in the middle of our set. That being said, as a band we were our tightest we've played last night.
It was just so incredibly hard to get any on-stage chemistry + vibe going because people wouldn't respond.
It seems people don't get us. They don't understand what type of music we're trying to make. It's not straight forward enough. It's not loud-quiet, distortion, scream or whine. It's something else. And people don't like different do they?
Well fuck them.
But not even applause when we finish our set? That's just fucking rude.
Why pay 3 to see some bands play if you're just going to be disrespectful and apathetic?
I'd rather they hated us, than behaved as they did.
