(my)Shadow
shadow (shăd'ō )
n.
It's always behind me just one step lurking back there. I feel it staring at my back, eyeballing me. Strange how it can be a comfort to be followed by such a familiar shape. I know it's pressence and it sees into my future.
And I tell it my past in the vain hope that it won't run screaming from the nightmares that haunt my every move. I'm blinking. blinking. blinking.
The cogs are turning in this old machine. It turns and burns and pulls down on the core. It was once a shiny workable, movable kind of affair. I guess nowadays it's getting rusty as the acid rain bears down.
But my shadow is still there. Keeping me secure and anchored to the ground. Reassuring you might think.
Of course it is. But I turned around today. Turned around to see it, to look it straight in the eyes and tell it the thing I long to tell it.
But no matter which way I turn I can't see my shadow. Always just out of reach, beyond my gaze, and spinning round my head.
Shadow, I can see you from the corner of my eye. The right one.
No, the left one. The right one, the left. Oh heck, stop moving around like that.
I've turned all I can turn, my only conclusion is that Shadow isn't really there after all.
It's ok, I'll be back someday. Soon.
But, Shadow, I miss you. I am only half what I was with you around.

you two are incredibly gheigh. this s coming from someone who is currently listening to DISNEY songs. So by my standards, that makes you Elton John and David Guest.
