As a parent of a child with autism life can be a bit (if not totally ) stressful. My son is very high on the spectrum, he will never be able to live by himself and as long as his mother or I am alive he will be with one of us. He as just turned 21 and is no longer aloud to attend school, that was his safe place filled with activities that he enjoyed and we his parents were able to work almost full time jobs. Well now that he is 21 we are fucked, it will be a minimum of three year waiting list for his funding and his mother and \i are looking at a major shift to hours we can work and it looks like we will only be part time employees for now on, good luck paying bills off that. the good news is his mother and I have been separated for over ten years but we have never let that get in the way of what is best for the kids ( we have 3). Well today my Uncle was in town for a visit and he quietly game me a cheque to help us out. I am still close to tears when I think about what this means for us and my son, we will be able to almost work full time and he will be able to be in a program two to three days a week for the next year. What a stress load re-leaver that is. Just needed to share this with someone so posted it here , now off to wake the boy up and make him dinner.
