Mmm, sucks about the outofprint CD I ordered. No word yet, and I ordered it Monday. Guess that store has been 86ed or something. (It's on half.com, so I haven't been charged.) **

Better news- seeing Goatsgotohell and VeganYenta last night. Always a delight. I was not too drunk (I ate a LOT of Chinese), so I remember SOME people's names. Bob earlier in the evening. Coworker... Sam? stickynuts and pyroErotica always in the hizzeus; you are one funny folks, sticky. Got some converse-time with Morgan and surprise, she IS as cool as THEY say... plus Morgy's cool beau real-name-beginning-with-J-withheld and her (soon to be SGer? SG, even?) friend M-rest-of-letters-withheld. Malcolm and his lady friend (okay, forget the name, but pretty neat hair) who had been around before. A couple other coworker folks who I guess I didn't talk to as much. It was a good hangout without the added pressure of sucking at video games, since (here's a combo) wrestling and Eddie Izzard were on the TV. And vegan chococake and wine.

Thanks again, GgtH and VY- another successful night of not having no funn!!

I've been reading up on old baseball stuff. Although it is hard to sit through more than two innings of most games on TV for me, I love reading these old stories of lunkheads and flakes and so on.
On the flipside of that, I might go see the new Benoit Jacquot and Gregg Araki movies. I was telling VY that I started a thread about Jacquot in Foreign Films which nobody replied to. I'm not finding it now; maybe it was in another film group that I quit (probably- I've quit a lot of groups!)... I don't mean to stereotype women (or the movies) but I figure if every women on SG saw Seventh Heaven (1997), A Single Girl (1995), and The Disenchanted (1990), at least 2/3 of you would have one, if not all, of them in your Favorite Films list... but that's just my take. Araki, of course, has made some pretty extreeeeme movies, and then he did Splendor which... I don't think could have made a Kathleen Robertson sex-romp any more boring than it did. I've read a review of this new one, though, and it seems like it might be his most humane/thoughtful (i.e. best) film, if it all pans out right.
btw, the new films are A Tout de Suite and Mysterious Skin, respectively.

I Want to Generate More Comments Poll- name a song that is embarassing that you like... but try not to make it just a pop/dance song, but something embarassing for other reasons.
In my case, I'll say "Green Grass and High Tides" by The Outlaws. When it is all jamming out at the end, I am all over those frantic air-guitar-arpeggios like bugs on poos, regardless of whether it's a second-tier "Freebird" or whatevah.
whatever whatever whatever whatever whatever whatever whatever tongue ooo aaa

** Okay, this is weird. My CD arrived in the mail today. Sebadoh III. I am loving it (also got The Freed Weed this week, and played to and from Baltimore). This is definitely the first time a seller has mailed me the item before even saying one word in email about the transaction. I dunno whether to be pissed or ultragrateful I got an outofprint item fast.

that's one of the things I respect about you; you one of the most independent thinkers I know --especially on this issue (within this site).
although I am probably in trendy harmony with most of sg, I am convinced that the right honorable reverend G is mos def in the house --of representatives. I am of the opinion that he is an active cause and propagator of this endless slaughterama in west asia. charisma is a gift, but we know too well of its potential for abuse --cliche, I know.
while someone like w has a crude, unrefined charisma, g's charm is eloquent and radiant --even quite beautiful at times. it is also subtle in its dual nature and political appeal --he has been w's personal spiritual trainer ever since the latter gave up dwi & cow tipping. If he hadn't been where he was and done what he did, somone else would gladly have done the honors. I'm not saying he's an evil person, just that his effect on our social & political climate has been one that I find unpalatable.
nonetheless, you are probably better informed than I am, as my knowledge of current & recent history is nil compared to yours --my favorite news source is the osmosis channel & I just finished reading how to divine history. --though I do have consistently partisan sources at my (mostly) left-wing office --I try to avoid becoming a doctrinaire by reading whatever paper is left around --my favorite being the enquirer.-- & being open-minded to the opinions of my republican relatives --I try not to throw out the babies with the wading-pool pea-water.
you seem to be attuned to grey issues, and take things issue by issue & are a lot less prejudicial than myself. you don't seem particularly attached to one political affiliation & that is something I've always respected, pretended to & --consistently wavered from.
WWJD? My feeling, to quote max von sydow from a lesser woody allen movie'
"if Jesus were alive today, he would never stop vomiting."

-your reactionarily "left of center" friend,
