Thursday- worked
Friday- worked
Saturday- worked, then didn't go to the Isadora - Antimony - unfound get-together (lack of immediate sleeping quarters) and have regretted it since (I coulda just stayed elsewhere- Red Roof friggin Inn). Read Tobias Wolff's The Barracks Thief; good, sad novella.
Sunday- Indian brunch drinking Ribena soda watching Bollywood stuff again. (That's like 3rd or 4th Sunday in a row.) Watched Mike Leigh's All or Nothing; very depressing, almost comically depressing. I mean, it's wall-to-wall miserable English council-estate life, heavy string-quartet gloom soundtrack, no jokes (unless the pompous statements by Phil [played by Timothy Spall][he was Albrey in Life Is Sweet] are supposed to be funny). About the only thing I can say positive about it is it's the first movie I've ever seen with a "chav" guy in it (he has greased crewcut hair, and one of those Nickelson's shirts).
Monday- worked. Had more bourbon that I thought I did (looking at my Bulleit bottle just now), drunk-posted, watched part of Le Boucher, an unbelievably boring Claude Chabrol film (most of the ones I'd seen before were good) whilst falling asleep, went to bed.
today- I finally mailed my package to Bankerboy, with absolutely no help from the US Mail. They asked if I had anything fragile or liquid in it. It was securely packed but stupidly I was honest and said yes, actually, both.... at which point they refused to mail it.
You know, I've sent Cherry a large bottle of cherry juice in the past, and this crap never came up. So the mail lady says to go to UPS, and be sure to tell them what's in it. I say, "Oh, yeah, sure," go there, don't tell them a damned thing, they don't ask, so we're straight, and it's mailed. There are CDs in it, D. And liquid, fragile... do the math. (sips Bulleit)
Also, I think I am in love with Sarah Vowell. She was on BookTV. Sadly, I didn't tape it. Haverchuck- you didn't tell me she was that cute.... goddamn.
Oh, also I got the Brian Eno book More Dark Than Shark through interlibrary loan... ironically enough, from Richmond Public Library... it's not that good, though. Basically, it's a bunch of artwork based on Eno songs... and it's not very good artwork. Real generic post-Hockney collage, if you ask me. Good news is- there are some essay bits about Eno's career, so that brought me a bit more up to speed. I have some solo Eno waiting for me on hold at Arlington Library too; I think it's Music for Airports.
Question- What is your favorite sleep aid? Figured I'd ask since I've had fair success with Safeway-generic-Unisom. You can mention anything, food item or herbs or whatever, though.
Yeah, Journal kinda sucks... hey, I waited 5 days, alright?
ps- Bulleit is not just whiskey, it's frontier whiskey
pps- I had knishes for dinner again. Authentic Coney island knishes... from the freezer.
