Hmm, sorry I was away. I was in Richmond on Sunday, relaxin' Sunday night, workin' Monday, doing laundry Mon night, and today.... guhh. Today my car wouldn't start... so I took the bus into work... realized almost right away that I really shoulda just stayed at home so I could get it towed and worked on... which I then did. I went out with my dad for a bit (he shopped for shoes, no luck; I looked in Barnes & Noble and realized my mom probably wouldn't be able to find any avant-jazz CDs on my Xmas list in any fuckin store around here. They had zero Art Ensemble of Chicago CDs.), developed a huge headache through the afternoon, and paid $350 for a new ignition for my car... so now I have separate keys for the door and ignition (not to mention the broken key piece still in the trunk keyhole). My once-reliable Honda Accord is turning into a money-sucking piece of horseshit. Oh, and the muffler got totally destroyed somehow, either by the tow truck or the garage did it deliberately thinking I'd pay them to fix it, maybe?.... the car sounds like a motorboat now... no matter, as I have a Midas warranty, so I'll get it fixed Friday, presumably for free.
Anyway, fugk all that bullshit. I was just watching Local Hero again, which I hadn't seen in... probably 17 years or so. Damn good movie. Peter Capaldi and Burt Lancaster are really good in it, but I guess Peter Riegert is the star. I really like Riegert... he was Boone in Animal House, and also did an episode of this bizarre-comedy serial that was on PBS years back, Trying Times. Did anyone ever see that show? To be frank, I forget what Riegert's episode was even about, sorry... but there was a great episode with Rosanna Arquette and David Byrne in it. Rosanna played a woman who wanted to be an astronaut; Byrne was a weird relative of her boyfriend, I believe... and very rude and drunk!
ANYWAY, Local Hero... yeah, I kinda liked it as a teen, but I think I have a better appreciation for its subtlety now... after years of hammer-your-brain Hollywood dreck, it's a total revelation... and, given the current administration of the country, it's oil-business jabs are just... heaven-sent. I think there's even a touch of the supernatural at the end, but.... well, I don't wanna give it away. A really nice overlooked movie.
I don't think I'll be online much more tonight... I dunno. My headache might be exacerbated by uhh adding neck and back pain. Just a nutty thought. I was pretty close to dropping that percocet earlier... used Advil instead. I went to make a icepack but.... the ice in my freezer evaporated. WTF? Has this evar happened to anyone else?

But I'm in about as good a shape as I could be. Very minor injuries with a minor (relatively speaking) hospital bill my auto insurance company will pick up. I have witnesses who will testify on my behalf, so it's clearly not going to be my fault. And I didn't like that car much anyway.
