So I just saw The Brown Bunny.
It was okay; by that, I don't mean an affected oh-I'm-so-above-it okay, or a I-wasted-my-time okay... I understand what Gallo was trying to do, and it was okay... I actually liked the movie more when it was doing less than when it was trying to do more.
I guess I should call him M. Night Gallo now, cuz... well, it kinda goes in that direction. Or M. Night Akerman Gallo... okay, I'll stop name-dropping directors now (although if we ever meet at a party/ event, remind me to tell you my Chantal Akerman story... yeah, even if you aren't a film nerd... it'll be mildly amusing. Uh, I saw her do a talk at the Gallery of Art), but my point is I'm reminded of Les Rendezvous D'Anna or News from Home although I like those films more than this one.
So, not bad, but no Buffalo '66, a film that made me cry (and laugh) way back in Washington '98.
ps- If you ask me about the sex scenes, I'll kick you in the junk. Buy your own ticket... pervs!!
