My phone line at home is out. Kinda made updating hard.
I was gonna scan some pics from, and talk about, this Jane Goodall book at my library. It was really depressing, some stuff about chimps abused in a laboratory right here in the DC area, and idiots who keep monkeys in horrible conditions, get taken to court, and are allowed to retain custody of them.
I dunno, though... I like to put awareness out there about things in my Journal but... should I really bum people out about things they can't really prevent? I mean, should I bother to tell the shocking news that people abuse and torture animals after we've seen recently (and always) in the news how they treat humans?
So, I wanted to do a happier Journal... and, to be honest, I'm not really bummed out or personally suffering right now, but I do see that Elvin Jones died yesterday. He was, in case you didn't know, the Best Drummer in Jazz History. His energetic style, heavy on the cymbals, perfectly complimented Coltrane and Tyner, two guys who themselves could be considered for Best status. Yahoo felt some need to call him "Elvin Ray Jones," I don't know why. I've bought or borrowed some 25-30 Coltrane albums (with some David Murray and Sonny Sharrock work thrown in) and never saw him called anything other than Elvin Jones.
So I guess it's a bum-out Journal... but I can maybe finish it off with something slightly fun; I was just burning songs from my library's Kinks's Greatest Hits CD and I was wondering
What is your favorite Kinks song?
Mine has to be "Tired of Waiting for You."
