One thing John Waters was wrong about in his lecture/ show last week...
Someone asked him about Dingleberries, the fruit candy product that he showed on a Letterman appearance, several years ago, that were actually poised to be sold in your local store next to Sprees and Sweettarts. He said last week that the manufacturers didn't know --the real meaning-- of the word and stopped their manufacture after his Letterman appearance created a stir, so that they never reached stores.
This is not so.
I saw them.
Once.
There was a quickymart-thing, a bodega or whatever, on route 1 near Hybla Valley. (It, like many things of that era... the KMart, the Zayres... is looong gone.) I was in there with my brother, and I think his friend Mark, and they brought the candy up to me and were going, "Isn't this nuts? Look at this!" and I went, "What? Why?" At the time, I had never heard the term, either.
So, perhaps they were discontinued (along the lines of the AYDS Diet Squares fiasco) but like that product, they did make it to the stores.
"Dingleberries" is a relatively obscure term still, so if you haven't heard it... dingleberries are, ermm... they're also called "cling-ons"? Does that clear it up? Trust me... that's all I wanna say about that.

Anyways...it was a fun night at the SGUK meet. But...lemme check...hmmm...nope...you've disguised your true location. Anyway...I hear that about a dozen or so states have a very respectable local SG community. Of course the west coast has the biggest and bangest ones. I think california is split up into cities rather than the state i.e. SGLA and SGSF.
Check the Groups. There might be one for your area.
