The font looks different 
or has my vision just changed?
I saw Bettie Serveert play last night. I think all the Neil Young comparisons they get were disproven by the one Liz Phair and two Velvet Underground covers they did. Those two are more what they sound like, the straight rock Velvet ("Beginning to See the Light," "I Can't Stand It," "What Goes On") and Exile in Guyville.
I sat on a corner of the stage. I'm glad nobody came along to tell me "Hey, don't do that," and the lead guitarist didn't seem to mind (I was about 4 feet from him).
I talked to one of the doormen about the Yo La Tengo show I missed the night before (felt run-down, had to work in the morning, crazybob wasn't able to go). He said they did "Dreaming" by Blondie and a Johnny Cash song, and stuff with Sun Ra Horns again, like "Nuclear War." It sounded potentially cool but... I needed sleep. Did I get enough sleep last night? Ah well, I guess, but I had a sleeping pill so it's hard to tell.

I'm stressing that the school is trying to direct me away from doing what I want to do, so that after I graduate I will look back and regret being pushed in a differen artistic direction than I wanted.
I don't believe you missed the Yo La Tengo show. I guess I'm just speaking from the position of someone who only gets to see decent bands every two years. When they decide to play Detroit. It's so wonderful driving through Detroit. It looks like Bosnia.
What do you think about that Nugent show?
