I have a bunch to write, from the last week. I will first write stuff more about me, so if you don't feel like reading about stuff not about me, in this big, long Blog, you can skip the stuff below the dotty line below. Okays?

Fri/ Sat- I didn't do much. I felt kinda crummy, worried a bit that a friend was feelin crummy too. One good thing I did was get in touch with a non-SG friend from Richmond VA who I hadn't spoken to since November or December... in fact, I'd never told him I was moving. I felt kinda bad about that, but figured he 1) wouldn't be happy with me moving far away, since he's not a long-distance keep-in-touch type, and 2) he seemed all busy with his family and work. I'm glad to finally talk to him, he wasn't mad at all (a bit suprised, yes), and I was glad to get that several-months delayed thing off my back.
Sun-Wed- I worked. Saw pygmy's husband for the first time in a long time at Tues nite jazz. Sadly, I felt low-energy (the story of my week!), and went home fairly early. One bit of good news- it appears he's playing at Mikael/ Les's wedding, so I hope to see yet more kool folks there on 9/9.
Also, very great to see howdypardner back in town last night! Such a joy to be around, and heard bout most of her trip.
I saw J+J+J Sunday night, as they did an early show at an arcade-bar, Ground Kontrol. Was funn songs, got them to do a request at the end ("'Suits' in Japan") and play Burgertime and crap with me for an hour. No new album sadly, but they are still soundin great like last year, and I ♥ their 2005 album, They Hump While We Go Nuts.
today- Hah, not much goin on. Bills, laundry, shopping. Did see Mikael by accident at the store, and phillipetheotter on purpose at the farmer's market. I'm a raspberry addict; they're so good from the freezer. I almost went to see Old Joy (it's a new, lo-budget Portland-based movie) with SuperFlashGo, but neither of us felt really up to it... sooo I get to blog now, eat yogurt, and hopefully see one of the library DVDs I didn't watch last week... I should also make CDs for howdy-p sometime.
also- did fantasy football draft with punkrockjuliette; my offense looks shaky, but I like the defensive guys.

stuff: People on the radio have been driving me nuts with their hypocrisy... multiple times. It's like people are being paid by the stupid comment on there. 1) When the news about John Karr first broke, Bill O'Reilly was crowing about how he wasn't going to cover that trashy, useless, lurid news... the next day he talks about it at length, just because (I guess) the rest of Fox News was, anyway (I don't listen to Fox by choice; my supervisor plays it at work. It is useful, in a way, a) to hear what conservative views I actually might agree with b) to keep tabs on dumb arguments/ comments by O'Reilly, Lars Larson, and Fox in general). 2) When the news about Terrell Owens mising practices came out, Jim Rome and Dan Patrick were lamenting that T.O. does things just to get attention. So why discuss it on your shows, guys?? Du-uuuh. (I like Patrick; I think Rome is pretty much a douchey testosterone-type sports fan.) 3) There's some local Portland sports show... Somebody and "Suke" (sp?), dunno their names... anyway, they come on and say this Portland Trailblazer guy was being sought in connection with a rape. Now, they were quick to say they had no other details, didn't know if he was accused, or a witness, or a character witness. They were quick to stress- we have no info, we can't really discuss the matter. So guess what they did? THEY DISCUSSED IT FOR A HALF-HOUR!! AND they took PHONE CALLS so more people who had NO info on the case could give - their - opinions - on the case which they have NO info on. (I turned the dial, btw. I flipped around stations, going back to see when they'd finally stop discussing something they have No facts on.)
On Yahoo news, I saw the headline "Senator Barack Obama electrifies Kenyans," and I was afraid the esteemed Illinois Senator had gone crazy with a couple of taserguns, maybe hopped up on qat, and was running around zapping poor Kenyans.... it turned out he was just giving speeches.
A lot of left-leaning people are scoffing at the Republican use of the term "Islamic fascism" (and boy, are they using it A LOT; as I said, I'm forced to listen to Fox at work), saying it's some dumb product of Rumsfeld or Rove or whomever.... actually, the first times I'd seen it used were by Christopher Hitchens, a (how to classify him?) leftist-turned-partial-neo-con whose writing I sometimes like, to explain his support for the Afghan and Iraq wars, among other things. Hitch is also pretty pro-Palestine and anti-Serbian-aggression, so not all that easy to pin down. He also has argued that, yes, Saddam's men were in Africa trying to obtain yellow cake uranium for weapons. He made a pretty convincing argument in an article I saw... so it's not just nuts like Larson and Hannity saying that... I'm still opoosed to us ever having invaded Iraq, btw. There were other ways to help the Kurds, and the amount of deaths post-war equal the amount Saddam would've killed/ tortured by now.
People didn't get the sneak-meaning behind Bush's last big pro-war speech, in my opinion. He got a lot of flak for insisting, like a little kid, that he was staying in Iraq no matter what... but I call bullshit, because also in that speech he said he was giving leeway to the generals in charge there. Lo and behold, a couple days later, the head general in Iraq says he's confident that Iraqi armed forces will be self-sustaining in a year or so. Get it? We will pull out of Iraq, Bush will look like he "kept his resolve" while deferring to generals who, what a coincidence, want to pull out.... this reminds me of how we said NO WAY would we cave in to the demands of terrorists.... then went and did all the stuff bin-Laden demanded, like remove bases from Saudi Arabia. This smells like a similar ploy, say one thing, do another. If it gets us out of Iraq, though, great; unlike O'Reilly, I do not believe Iran will "take over" Iraq, just because they both have Shi'a muslims; they also fought a holy war against each other for years, just recently. Don't hold your breath on large amounts of them getting chummy, although I'm sure small terrorist groups will.

Oh yeah- I went to see Beerfest. I liked it. Not as good as Super Troopers, but enjoyable. Jay Chandrasekhar is a great actor, I think, and Steve Lemme really changes his entire look/ speech as a Jewish professor. Kevin Heffernan plays "Landfill," who is almost identical to Farva, but he's really good at it, so why complain?

Yes, I'm missing a certain banker right now. But I am happy for him as this trip is badly needed for him and I wish he could stay for a bit more. I will get my time with him, I'm just feeling sorry for myself.
