Wow. Ten days of no SG. I can't complain but it's good to be back here...I'm just a bit overwhemed at how much looking around I'm gonna have to do tonight!
And with that, I gotta go get dinner...and hopefully the apartment "valet" is open by now, as I see I have a UPS parcel from someone...ebin or Cherry? And I somehow have to figure out who has all my other mail downstairs...
Thanks to all who dropped by. I will write more/revise this thing later.

later -- Wow, "testimonials"? When did that happen? Neato.
My trip to Duck, NC (June 27-July 3) -- I had made a point to vaj that I would relax, read, maybe do some tennis, and eat. I did, although I got a kinda heatstroke after only 15 minutes of tennis on Tuesday, so not a lot of tennis.
I finished The Brothers Karamazov. I liked it a lot, although I did skim through 1) some of the religious stuff, 2) some of the longwinded lawyer/ courtroom speeches. Hey, it was 800 pages, alright? I liked it, although it was kinda sad in the end, for much of the same reason it's kinda funny in the beginning -- scandalous behavior. At the end, characters end up reaping what they've sown...
I ate some seafood for a change. I'm not big on seafood, but I realized finally that if you're at a beach it is worth getting seafood since it's fresh.
I did some minor drinking at bars, primarily since my friend Eric wanted to go to bars (ironically, he doesn't drink), and found them kinda blah. At least I never had to sit through "Margaritaville" though (alas, it was heard once during the week, from a passing SUV).
I went to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which was a two-hour trip for a 5-minute lookout, but it was a nice view and worth it.
We saw some dolphins surfacing along the beach but my disposable camera couldn't really focus on such things, so you'll miss out on one of the better sights but I'll try to put some other pics on here soon.
The Denver area was nice. It's like around here, but with more open space and nice mountains all along the horizon. My sister's wedding went well. Her husband seems like a cool guy. It's funny but he is exactly like a 6'4" non-bald Ian MacKaye...he even has the exact same voice (as per the documentary Another State of Mind with Minor Threat in it). I don't think he's punk, though. Which would make sense, as my sis isn't.
I went to an art fair in Denver on Saturday, and there was some great stuff. It was a lot like dropping by The Torpedo Factory (in Alexandria), a local artists' work center/studio. They had everything -- paintings, multimedia, sculpture, vases, jewelry, clothing. One of my favorite artists was a guy who sketched in pastels. He had one called "Invasion USA!" which showed a sky full of flying Walmarts, and a version of Wyeth's "Christina's World" (with the same title) which showed Christina looking back over a wheat field at...a Walmart.
I thought one of the more eyeopening artists was the guy at http://www.jeffreyzachmann.com where the still pics will give you some idea of how inspired his Rube Goldberg machines are, with all their levers, trapdoors, cranks, etcetc, but it's more impressive to see 5 or 6 working at once, and hearing two hundred marbles clanking around them.
