I wish I had time to answer all the people who posted yesterday. I kept trying to go on SG last night and it wouldn't work! Did anyone else have this problem?
I have to get packed n going fairly soon, so I cannot do things like answer posts, peruse the boards, and look at...UKSG candids?? Aww man!
Something to see on July 6/7th, I guess...

Some quick language-translation humor for you, from a book on international customs/cultures:
-- "Gosses" is slang in France for children, but in Canadian French it means testicles...so be careful in Quebec about asking "how the kids are".
--The author of the book mentions that "coger" means "to catch" in most Spanish countries...but he found out on a trip in Argentina that in some South American areas it means "to have sex with". he told soemoen he was going to catch a taxi and he looked at him oddly and replied, "It's impossible".
-- A wife of a businessman who'd moved to Mexico went to buy a bad. She'd taught Spanish so felt fluent enough inthe language to make a transaction, but mistook the word "colchon", mattress, for "cojon", testicle. She asked the salesman to see a "cojon". When he seemed confused, she followed up by saying she wanted to see "a big, firm mattress".
-- In the ads for Nike shoes filmed in Kenya, they showed a Samburu tribesman, speaking in the language Maa, interpreting his statement as Jjust do it". The film company later admitted they didn't know what he really said...which was "I don't want these. Give me bigger shoes."

Writing Assignment -- I would hope, as people drop by here over the week, that they would have just 5/10 minutes to write a little anecdote, just something that happened once when you were 5, or 15, or whatever....lil nostalgia bits, stories, observations, anything that suddenly popped in your head in the last couple weeks and you said, "Huh, hadn't thought of that for years...."
THANKS to all for making my first 6 months on Suicide Girls a very rewarding experience!!! I would not be back here night after night if it wasn't for every one of you. SKOL! SALUD!
