I had to ask, eventually -- does anybody really care that much who Ashton Kutcher is doing nowadays???
At work I see a lotta magazine covers, and I see them in line at the grocery of course, and the last few months have seen a bigger interest in who Ashton Kutcher is dating than the war or SARS or anything on the planet.
I don't care if Ashton Kutcher dates Demi Moore; I don't care if he dates Roger Moore (who, btw, is a knight now! He's SIRRR Roger Moore, even though he does narration for goofy UFO shows on Sci Fi Channel and did Spiceworld, too)!!!
I have seen gossip in mags all my life, but I've never seen a lightweight like Kutcher get so much press. Perhaps it's just that I think he's weird-looking and not as cool as other That 70s Show people, or that Punk'd is pretty dumb, a show that basically amounts to "we're pretending you're gonna be arrested" which is niether funny nor fun.

I guess I shouldn't write to zenhell, and I hope I don't disappoint Kikka or anyone too much when I say I didn't like how The Man in the High Castle ended. I pretty much loved the first couple hundred pages but the last few dozen....ehhh....I found some of the characters' erratic behavior a bit offputting, and the action sequences seems to be a bit hard to take seriously at times...and the book seems to stumble to an end, rather than hav ea big-bang-crash-zot finish, after the big secret is revealed...and the man in the high castle himself, very underwhelming to me in a way that isn't Wizard-of-Oz-movie charming...

You know what would be news, though? Michael Douglas leaving Catherine Zeta Jones for Ashton Kutcher. That is a magazine I'd buy...

1) in the theater? Two Towers. at home, Fear of a Black Hat. I thought Two Towers was more noticeably long than Fellowship, and overall not as good. still enjoyable, though. as for Fear of a Black Hat...well, it's a classic

p.s. -- nice "sign" and "occupation," my friend asked me last night what my favorite Tom Waits was, and i told her it was really a tie between Small Change, Rain Dogs and The Black Rider. i always hear that a lot of people don't like The Black Rider, but it really is spectacular...
