Guess who's back?
I'm trying to at least read everyone's most recent journal, but it's getting late.
I've been trying to decide how to write about my trip, I learned a whole lot of stuff about music in Memphis! I guess I'll just write about it one day at a time and post pics later.
Thursday of course, I needed to at least get off work on time so I could get ready to go. So of course, I got off work after six o'clock!
I was dead tired and really didn't do anything to get ready. I'd already packed as much as I could on Wednesday, but I had alot of shit I needed to get out of my truck, and wanted to clean it up a little.
Friday, I got up at a decent time; but had to unload my truck, finish packing, load the truck, check the air in my tires and my oil and such, get gas and air up my tires, and then I was set to go. All of that didn't leave me time to go to Tupelo (just like last year). So I make to my aunt's house in decent time and rested up and watched a little baeseball with my aunt. Then we went to my cousin's house for a little get together for her daughter (who turned 14) and my other cousin (age unknown
). My cousin cooked tilapia with mozzarella and (I think) walnuts, twice baked potatoes, biscuits like those you get at Red Lobster, and fixed a tosse salad. She also baked a chocolate sheet cake usong out late aunt's recipe!
We were supposed to go swimming but a little thunder storm passed over and then it got late. I did play one game of NASCAR Thunder with a couple of the boys and came in second. I would have kicked there asses if we'd played again but that was right before we ate. Oh yeah, there were scooters to ridden too, but the storm took care of that too. It was still a pretty good get together though. Almost forgot! I went through the Alabama music Hall of Fame on the way up. Not a whole lot to it, but I didn't realize that so many musicians came from Alabama- so it was educational. I saw a little memorabilia from Hank Williams, Hank Williams, Jr. , the Commodores, Emmylou Harris, Nat King Cole, Wicked Wilson Pickett, Tammy Wynette, the Louvin Brothers, the Temptations (2 or 3 of the originals were from Alabama), and a few others.
Tomorrow, the neverending fact filled Saturady update!
