A time of magic...
It was about 8 or 9 years ago, I was sitting at my usual hangout, the Tattletale in Atlanta. An unfamiliar dancer approached my table. I thought she was sort of attractive, but not my type or whatever, I didn't think I was interested until we made eye contact and she spoke. She only asked me if I wanted some comapny or a table dance, I forget which, but there was something about her. So I said yeah. If you're interested, she borea faint resemblance to Sarah Jessica Parker.
Over the next eight months or so, I spent many pleasant hours in her company. She was the sort of person that you could discuss anything with, without feeling judged. We often talked about "New Age" philosophies, of which I was unlearned but interested and she was well read. She told me stories of her life, growing up in a small town in North Carolina, and of living in places such as Oklahoma and Jamaica. There was apparently a Jamaican so smitten with her that I think he came to Atlanta from time-to time to try to get her move back there with him. Maybe that's where she is today.
Once, when we were both drunk, she told me her real name and said that she should write her life story. I told her that from what she had told me that she should. That same night she said something that I couldn't quite make out, only that the words "love" and "you" were in there. I told her that I loved her, too. The next time I saw her, I mentioned the book part and she said that she says a lot of things when she's drunk. That it was a friend of her's who suggested the book idea. I never asked about the "love" part and she never mentioned it either.
It's funny but during this period of discussions with her, I had a better understanding of who I am and what I believe. Of course, like anything it came to an end. I later leaned that she had moved to Florida. I found that out when I saw her one last time at the Tattletale, after about a six month absense. During that absense, I'd told myself that if I ever saw her again, I'd tell her exactly how I felt about her and what she meant to me. I'd told her over the course of the time that I knew her, but had never put it all together at once. Of course, when I saw her we told how we missed each other. I was so happy that she was back in town, that I didn't tell all that I had planned. That was the last time I sw her.
One time, she had said something about us connecting on a soul level. I wrote and recorded a song aout her called "Soul Sister" that I never got to let her hear. I put it together with 2 other songs that she inspired and a Rolling Stones song that went well with them on a tape shortly after seeing her for what proved to be the last time. I think it's one of the better tapes that I've made.

That was a lovely, but sad story. I know exactly what you mean man...
