I had a pretty good Christmas. After opening presents, we spent the day eating and watching vids. No football! Yippee! I love to play it but hate to watch it! Drives me nuts to see grown men get all emotionally involved watching some stupid game they have absolutely no control over.

I got the "Brothers Grimm" and "Serenity" on DVD and an inevitable pair of...

Other than the cost of living, Brisbane has my partners family and the University he has been accepted to. It all kinda came together in one tidy package.
I love it here tho. Much more than Sydney. There is a time and a place for Sydney, in my life anyway, and it has past. Good memories tho.

P.S. Looking forward to seeing 'Serenity' myself... any good??

Well, Christmas shopping is done as far as I can tell. But there's always somebody I miss.

My brother and I went out two nights ago and bought for our brother and sister and their families. We all get together Christmas morning to open presents, have a big feast, watch the crummy football games and nap. It's a tradition.

I watched Ralphie get his BB...

Ambrose Bierce's "Devil's Dictionary":

"Patriotism, n. Combustible rubbish ready to the torch of any one ambitious to illuminate his name.
In Dr Johnson's famous dictionary patriotism is defined as the last resort of a scoundrel. With all due respect to an enlightened but inferior lexicographer I beg to submit that it is the first."

You can't help but be thrilled and inspired by Bierce's cheerful...

Tomorrow is another anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and marks this country's entry into the most extensively brutal war in mankind's history. Big wars, little wars--to the ones who are dying it doesn't matter if only one person or 40 million of them are dying with her or him. But still WWII stands out as the biggest monument to mindless brutality. The "Good...

Thanksgiving day is tomorrow! Turkey day! Whoopee, except I don't like turkey all that much. I like the other stuff though, like ham, string beans, squash and mince meat pie. Seems like I'm the only one that likes mince meat pie, but then, I'm the only one who brings it.

Thanksgiving always reminds me of deerhunting and deer camp because Thanksgiving and deer season fall...

"W-a-r-r-i-o-r-s, come out and p-l-a-y--y-e-e--y-a-y!"

Awesome flick! Yah, the fight scenes are stylized, and some of the gangs' colors are somewhat unbelievable, but when one is watching a legend come to life, suspension of disbelief is permissable. Of course, Xenophon's "Anabasis" isn't exactly a myth, but the accomplishments of the 10,000 were the stuff of legend. Even back in Socrates's day, Iraq and it's neighbors...

I just took my annual bath. I discovered my skin really isn't scaly, orc green. And I have a nose! Life is full of disappointments!

One of the girls at the store is going to have a baby boy, and she and her husband have already picked out his name. He'll be called Ryder, a good, manly name. I kid her and say that they...

Halloween went pretty well. About 100 kids showed up at the door threatening mayhem if I didn't fork over the loot. It was a typical Halloween night, with the little ones stumbling through the rain and darkness all decked out in cute, soggy costumes. My porch was decorated with pumpkins and flashing lights to warn the little beggars off, but they came anyway.

In the...

I'ts not a massive secret, She helped me locate
a few items that I had been searching for, for a hobby of mine.

Boy that was more cryptic that the last entry!

She helped me locate a piece of SG merch I was after.

It was nearly a heart melting moment but I have been totally consumed by The Dark Side and nothing will ever bring joy to me again.

My friend I am too lost to love or save.

Before we get too weepy over old Pooper, I ought to mention that I still have a yellow lab and four cats. Scrappy, the dog, was bequeathed on me by my son, and Scrappy was never as well trained as P.P.P.P. He's an outdoor dog, but we still have fun together. It's funny to watch him walk because he waddles like a duck.

You can...

grrr, Ive worked a SHITLOAD of retail in my life ... and Im now in hospitality/food business, which is equally as frustrating. Ppl are such savage BEASTS!! I know women are worse, there are probably 3x the amount of women shoppers as there are men, therefor ... the women do more damage.

It was a year ago that my dog passed away, and I still miss old Pooper. His name was Poor Pitiful Poopy Puppy, or P.P.P.P. for short.

He was the smartest animal who ever owned me, and was a real friend. He was a black lab, so I could never get a decent picture of him because he blended with the shadows. I got him...

I think labs are like .. one of the top 10-20 smartest dogs there are out there, according to this list I read the other day. I think theyre considered smart because theyre easily trainable, whereas some dogs are smart for other reasons ... like common sense smart or problem solving skills ..

anyways .. Im sorry to hear abt your dog frown losing your friends arent easy, especially when they just dont live anywhere NEAR the amount of time you'd like them to
sky:
how are you doing?
hope things are okay...
